Anyone watch 'Conveyor Belt of Love' on Monday night during ABC's 'Marry Me' Monday night line up after 'The Bachelor'? No? Just us?
ABC describes their new reality show as "five women [who] take a shot at finding love when 30 men are given the chance to impress them as they pass by on a moving conveyor belt." Why? Why not? Because why should you have to get out there and look for love when it can be brought to you on a fully stocked assembly line? But hold onto that remote -- was one of those men actually a transgender performance artist?
Some curious internet super sleuths found contestant Scott Schofield's website which confirmed that he was in fact a transgender performance artist (via Videogum). He even tweeted during Monday's broadcast that he "never thought this would air."
Among the program's harem of men presented on the conveyor belt was Schofield, an author and performance artist who discussed that he was touring with his book on masculinity and performing in a "cirque du soleil" type show titled 'Becoming A Man in 127 Easy Steps.' Four of the five girls didn't bite (naming him too dorky for their tastes) but raven-haired, self-professed dork Jenn chose him as her man. Sadly, she eventually dumps Schofield for a fresher side of beefcake off the conveyor belt after questioning both men about their bedroom behavior.
'Conveyor Belt' never disclosed the full story on Schofield, but ABC has a decent track record of representing the LGBTQ community, even casting transgender actor Candis Cayne on the brilliant but canceled 'Dirty Sexy Money.' Looks like this only adds to the network's growing portfolio.
PopEater reached out to Schofield who declined an interview due to contractual obligations. "I have nothing to hide about myself, hence my decision to participate in a prime time reality TV show," he wrote in an e-mail.
There is NOTHING wrong with transgendered people on programming...I mean didn't folks like you start it with having 'eveyone be skinny and look alike?" Now you have the results of making fun of people to look as one ideal. Get used to it, transgendered people are here to stay because when everyone looks a like, you never know what anyone really is.
Nothing to hide, except the truth about himself. I HATE all this fake dating and romance crap. What about honesty from the start? Aren't relationships more important than this voyeuristic garbage on TV? Shame on the networks. Shame on the viewers. This stuff is crap.
Since Transgender is only mental, then I guess we can just cancel any more gender reassignment surgeries? Somehow I think you would get some backlash from that idea.
"Since Transgender is only mental, then I guess we can just cancel any more gender reassignment surgeries? Somehow I think you would get some backlash from that idea." - I guess while we're at it we can just cancel every nose job, boob job, butt job, spine/height job, face job... the list goes on. After all, if you don't like your nose it's certainly not killing you to keep it looking that way is it -- whereas trans people will often actually kill themselves if they are forced to remain the way they are.
"transgender? of course,,, Our society is sick and it aint gonna get no better,,,,and expect more 9-11 rather u like it or not,,Its that simple," - And yet the same people claiming our society is sick are the ones running off to Argentina, propositioning people in bathrooms, or in the really upstanding cases, molesting little boys while serving in the clergy. Amen.
"I watched some of this show. I'm glad she choose someone over him. I don't thing that this is very fair to the ladies. They weren't aware of this. One needs to be honest." - Do you think when you meet someone for the first time you should tell them the number of people you have slept with, the number of diseases you have, the number of kids you have, etc. etc. That, including something like this, isn't something that needs to be mentioned initially. Try falling in love with people for who they are, first. It works a little better in the long run.

Do you tell people about your genitalia every time you find a new romantic prospect? I'm not transgendered, but I'm not going to put my hand on my partner's arm and go, "Honey, I have a vagina."

Trans-gender is a mental condition, not a physical Condition.

The various surgeries involved with a transsexual transition are the currently accepted treatment for a condition known as GID.
Find "reality TV" under the definition of oxymoron.
