Artie Lange Reportedly Stabbed Himself Nine Times
Artie Lange landed in the hospital after stabbing himself nine times in an apparent suicide attempt, sources told
The Post.
Lange's frantic mom called 911 Saturday morning after she entered his Hoboken apartment and found the bloodied funnyman, a law enforcement source said. Lange sustained six "hesitation wounds" and three deep plunges. A source close to Lange's management team confirmed that Howard Stern's sidekick stabbed himself. Surgeons managed to save Lange.
On his Sirius Satellite Radio show Monday, Stern vowed to keep quiet on Lange's condition but said he "wanted to vomit" after reading rumors about the comedian's fragile health.
A spokesman confirmed over the weekend that Lange, 42, is in a New Jersey hospital, but no other information has been released.
Stern didn't shy away from showering his buddy with praise."We all have our demons," Stern said on-air this week, referring to Lange's past battles with addiction.
"Artie has given this show tremendous moments of great comedy. He's a tremendous contributor. He is a good man. Don't forget how great he is."
Lange has had a history of substance abuse issues, including when he checked himself into a rehab clinic in late 2008. In 2009, Lange was busted for DUI (prescription sleeping pills) after crashing his car into Toms River in July.
According to
AOL Health, a number of factors can put someone at a higher risk for suicide in the short term, including: "an episode of depression, psychosis, or anxiety; a significant loss, such as the death of a spouse or the loss of a job, loss of social support; a personal crisis or life stress, especially one that increases a sense of isolation or leads to a loss of self-esteem; an illness or taking medication that triggers a change in mood."

While it is still unknown what caused Lange to attempt suicide, "any blow that upsets a person's life can set a vulnerable individual on a self-destructive course," the site says.

This man needs to pull himself away from all those that are contributing to his illness and one of those people is Howard Stern. Stern promotes craziness and instability with his radio broadcast. Lange needs lots of structure and support from people who love him for who he is not for his craziness on Stern's show. Stern & his staff are just using him. Lange has to develope some respect for himself and learn to say NO to his addictions and people.

These are his own personal demons. He needs long term help. Depression is not something that just gets "fixed." Artie being on the Howard Stern show as long as he has probably saved him from doing this to himself sooner. These people you are so easy to blame are his friends. I hope he realizes he is worthy of this life and many people are praying for him.
You can't blame Stern or the show,Artie has been a walking time bomb for over a year now. It all started when he went after his worker for really no reason. I had a gut feeling he was having problems. I just hope Artie gets himself together and beats this.
You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. If you have listened to his show at all you would know that Howard has been a father figure to Artie. Howard has encouraged Artie to get therapy, take as much time as he needed to get better, go to rehab, and has even found doctors for him. You know nothing so keep it to yourself!
How can you blame the Stern Show for a man's psychological problems??? Your obvious ignorance of just what Howard is about only serves to to demonstrate that you just don't get it!
Howard has repeatedly offered him help on air and apparently off air. Howard has kept him off the radio at times that Artie has shown up to work hungover, drunk or high on heroin or cocaine. There is only so much a friend or co-worker can do, you have to take responsibility for your own demons. Blaming Howard for Artie's baggage is ridiculous considering he came to the Stern show with all of it. Artie was fired from Mad tv for his cocaine addiction, which happened years prior to ever appearing on the Howard Stern show. I'm not a fan of Hoo Hoo, but putting the blame on Stern, a man who has by all accounts tried to help Artie above and beyond the call, is ridiculous.
Trust me there is no one more stable than stern. It is a simple matter of you get it or you don't. Blameing the show is ignorant. It always makes me laugh when the people that don't get it are so infatic and little do they know the way they see things could'nt be any further from reality.......ah the bliss. Good luck Artie, get well.
ARTIE, PLEASE SNAP OUT OF IT. IT PAINS ME TO SEE HIM IN SUCH PAIN. HE CAN'T GO IN THE SAME DIRECTION AS WE ALL KOW WHO. GET BACK UP AND TRY AGAIN. WE LOVE AND MISS YOU!!!
To make a statement like this is ridiculous. You make this statement as if you know these people personally and are their professional advisor. You are not. Shame on you for making such an asinine statement. Which furthermore... are lies. You have no idea what you're talking about. Mind your own business and zip your ignorant lip.
Oh please. Get it real. No ones causing Artie to do anything but Artie. The man was addicted to herion long before the Stern show so get off the LETS BLAME STERN KICK!
If you were a regular listener you would know the facts. Please keep quiet until then.
Peace and Love
I am so over Artie Lange's mental problems. He needs to man up and suck it up and stop acting like a child. I wish him the best but his self destructive behavior is self imposed and I for one am way over it.
Howard cannot be blamed for Artie's hating his life.
Oh, he stabbed himself. I thought maybe he had a run-in with Joe Buck.

RIGHT... IT'S ENOUGH TO MAKE YA WANNA KILL YOURSELF. I GET IT.
I find it sad that ANYONE feels the need to take their own life. I have been there, and know how it feels. Although I never stabbed myself, or tried any other methods. No one desrves to be trashed over it, no one should judge others until they have walked a mile in their shoes. Since this is impossible, lets leave well enough alone as far as talking badly about the man. It seems he has enough problems with out anyone adding to them. I hope Artie feels better soon, and gets the help he truely needs.

This guy was never funny and an ardent kiss ass to Stern. Loser at gambling and life itself, is anyone surprised?
