Mariah Carey Delivers 2nd Strange Speech in a Row

Mariah Carey received accolades for her role in 'Precious,' but her allegedly less-than-sober acceptance speech for a Breakthrough Actress award at the Palm Springs Film Festival won a different kind of attention - and an oddly disjointed ramble during Wednesday night's People's Choice Awards makes two strange speeches for Mariah in as many nights. While the singer/actress looked glam - if dangerously busty - in her mermaid-style gown, it's clear Carey didn't go for an experimental walk before donning the tight dress for the award ceremony. Carey barely made it up the steps to the People's Choice stage, with more than a little help from her husband Nick Cannon.

Once arriving to take the award for Favorite R&B Artist, Carey appeared unsteady on her feet, but remembered to call out God, her crew and her husband "for helping me with this dress because ... it's a drama," before coyly thanking Cannon for "many other things I probably shouldn't mention."

I know I'm a neophyte to pop culture, but I didn't see much difference in Mariah and all the other vacuous, self absorbed "singer/musicians" that abound today. Looks to me she fits right in with her peers. Give her a break.

Why,oh why, oh why do we still have to keep hearing about Kate G.? Does anyone, anywhere give a flying fig about her? She is a hateful, dispicable person. Why does she get so much publicity? What is the basis for it? Why she is forced down our throats at every turn, every day, day after day, after day?

wow you guys really don't know much about drunks if you think that was rambling and she seemed toasted. no where near slurry and toasted- maybe (and a big maybe) one or two glasses of wine but she just seemed relaxed, maybe a little tired, and trying to be informal talking about her dress and her husband. I din't find it rambling either- I followed her train of thought all the way through.

Personally I'm not a fan of Mariah, but to say she should modify her dress because of her age is ridiculous. Madonna is 51, and still working it. I say they keep breaking the mold of what a "mature" woman should look like. Yes friends, the Golden Girl days are over. (even though still love the show).

yea she sounded like she had a couple of drinks before the show, and a few more might've made her mention the other things she should'nt have. lol gotta get it together. that was AWKWARDDDDD!

or it might have been that dress cutting off her circulation. she did have a ways to walk so she could have been out of breath.

I think Mariah looks beautiful in her clothes. But that's just me. And how should a forty year old dress exactly LOL. Just who deemed anybody on this board a stylist? Her husband doesn't seemed to mind and really,that's all that counts!

Mariah is a talented person, but unstable. I have watched many of her interviews, not just the latest on with Larry King. She also must be a druggie or alcoholic, judging by her strange answers and erratic behavior.

The woman is beautiful, she has a great voice but she did look like a sausage squeezed into a dress she could not even walk in. Also she was either drunk or high out of her mind.
