Ted Koppel may be making a U-turn back to his 'This Week' anchor chair now that host George Stephanopoulos is tied up in his 'Good Morning America' role. Politico.com is reporting that Koppel may take the reigns of 'Week' three Sundays each month. Citing "broadcast industry sources," the Politico report states that no official offers have been made to Koppel just yet, but that a handful of kinks would need to be worked out before that could happen. The fourth Sunday of each month would be hosted by potential candidates for a full-time role in the future.Ted Koppel Going Back to 'This Week'?

Ted Koppel may be making a U-turn back to his 'This Week' anchor chair now that host George Stephanopoulos is tied up in his 'Good Morning America' role. Politico.com is reporting that Koppel may take the reigns of 'Week' three Sundays each month. Citing "broadcast industry sources," the Politico report states that no official offers have been made to Koppel just yet, but that a handful of kinks would need to be worked out before that could happen. The fourth Sunday of each month would be hosted by potential candidates for a full-time role in the future. When asked about the scoop, ABC News President David Westin didn't mince any words when shooting down the report. He tells Politico in an e-mail: "We are in the middle of the process, and I will not comment on the specifics of whom we are and whom we are not talking to. I'm considering a number of alternatives. I will pull back the veil to the limited degree of telling you – for the benefit of your readers – that just about every specific that you have is false."
Holding up a potential deal is the fact that Koppel's producer for many years, Tom Bettag, isn't involved in the 'Week' gig.
Since leaving his anchor spot on 'ABC News Nightline' in 2005, Koppel has carved out his own niche as the managing editor of the Discovery Channel. The network airs 'Koppel on Discovery,' which allows the legendary news veteran to dive deep into stories as opposed to the scattershot coverage nightly news necessitates.
Koppel, to the surprise of many, was born in England and moved to America when he was 13 years old. He has four children with wife Anne Dorney, and has four children and five grandchildren.

Ted Koppel would be great on This Week, George did a terrific job but is now doing great on GMA. George is going to give Matt a run for his money in the mornings, and Ted will go just fine with our morning coffee on Sundays.
