Derek Jeter, Minka Kelly to Tie the Knot

New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and 'Friday Night Lights' star Minka Kelly are set to tie the knot, The New York Post reports.

According to the Post, Jeter and Kelly have set a November wedding date and will have the ceremony at the same place Kevin Jonas recently wed -- a castle on Long Island.

Jeter has been linked to several Hollywood starlets, including Vanessa Minnillo, Mariah Carey and Jessica Biel.

Kelly previously dated John Mayer.

So how did the brunette beauty tame Jeter?

"She is clearly devoted to him. She goes to probably every game of his that her schedule allows. Being a celebrity herself, she'll understand the pressures of fame," Bonnie Fuller, Editor-in-Chief of HollywoodLife.com explains to PopEater.

"It's helpful when you're as under the spotlight as Derek Jeter is, to have a girlfriend who does understand what that's like," Fuller adds. "[Minka] both understands what it's like to have to deal with the interest of fans and what it's like to have to cope with paparazzi and having a very public life as well as private life. Not everybody can cope with that and is also comfortable with the spotlight."

As for Kelly, Fuller believes it's easy to see why she would marry him. "He's got a great reputation. There's no black splotches of concern about infidelities with former girlfriends ... he's got a spotless record."

Considering game 7 of the 2009 world series was scheduled for November 5, is it likely that Jeter would set a date which might interfere with the Series in 2010. He may marry her, they may have set a date, but no way is it scheduled for November 5.

Do you all not know who Mink is? Her Dad was an original member of Aerosmith. She didn't even know him till she was an adult. She knows what she is getting into. Jeter's not the only one with money.

She seems like a nice girl...except her momentary lapse of reason with John Mayer,(and all us girls have had a "Mayer" in their lives...lol) you never hear about her doing crazy stuff. Derek is a class act. His parents did a wonderful job raising an intelligent, thoughful young man, and I'm sure this is not something he has taken lightly. I wish them all the best!
