Mel Gibson: Tiger Woods Needs 'To Shut Up, Move On'
By PopEater Staff Posted Jan 11th 2010 02:59PM
Mel Gibson, who has recently dealt with his own scandals, is ready to shed light on Tiger Woods' affair and offers up his advice to the pro golfer. "Nobody is without sin," Gibson tells UK's Daily Mail. "You have to try to make amends if you can. You have to shut up and move on and not whine about it. And you have to deal with it like a man. You've just got to accept your own culpability."

In light of all the controversy, Gibson believes the public needs to focus on larger issues around the world. "Why are we talking about this when we're sending 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan? You've got this history-changing event going on and we're talking about Tiger's private life and golf injuries. He's being used as a diversion and it just drives me crazy. You come out savaged. I just think, 'Who cares?'"
Gibson is no stranger to marital problems either and takes responsibility for the failure of his marriage. He and his wife Robyn separated in 2006 and were officially divorced in 2009, after seven children and 28 years of marriage. "When all's said and done, I did a pretty good hatchet job on my marriage," Gibson says. "I'm to blame, if you're inclined to judge."
Gibson also suffered a major PR crisis of his own in 2006, when he was pulled over on suspicion of DUI in California, and reportedly made anti-Semitic comments during his arrest. He later apologized, pleaded no contest and received three years' probation.
Gibson says he's been sober now for 3 1/2 years. "It's cool," he says. "But I put some time together before that – one time it was eight years, one time it was five years. I have to be vigilant about these things or it will creep back in."

mel gibson needs to shut the hell up. i have no respect for him anymore. kids, what kids? he knocks up a woman skinny and young enuff to be his kid. ecch. she can groom his gray hairs and lay beside his wrinkled sack until she has to feed and dress and bath him. it wont be too long. if he wasnt a star already, he would be homeless by now, so just shut up mel.

All that have failed at being a role model for their children would try to defend such weak behavior as exhibited by Mel and Tiger. Yes, we all have weaknesses an make mistakes; some much more embarassing and stupid than others. Question is, will your children speak proudly of your behaviour, or not? You must live with it.

Mel, yes we all sin. However, a person needs to learn from the consequences of our sin. We don't need to gloat and act like we didn't do anything wrong. Yes God forgives, but He also wants us to have a repentant heart. He wants to help us have a prosperous life and not LIVE in sin. Sometimes our sin brings us to a place that breaks us to help change us. We all need God. Some of us just don't realize it. I was cheated on by my husband of 10 years, and he left me and my daughters that were 1 and 4. It has been 12 1/2 years since our divorce and my ex-husband is still running deeper into sin. What will it take to break him? Our daughters are teenagers now and have rebelled as well, however, they took a stand for truth this month. My prayers for them are being answered. I do not want my daughters to repeat their father's folly. Mel, I would love to talk to you about some future plans God has for you AND your present declining career. Sincerely, Sheila
