'The View' got heated when Whoopi Goldberg defended Nevada Senator Harry Reid's racial remarks about President Barack Obama. Reid was accused of saying Obama would be a good presidential candidate even though he's African American -- using a word considered outdated to describe the president. "Negro is not a bad word. There are a lot of worse things he could have said," Goldberg says. The argument between the 'View' gals gets so heated that most of Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd's comments are censored. Watch: The heated 'View' argument stems from allegations made in a new book 'Game Change.' Authors John Heilemann and Mark Halperin claim, "He [Reid] was wowed by Obama's oratorical gifts and believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama -- a 'light-skinned' African American 'with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.'"
"Reid was convinced, in fact, that Obama's race would help him more than hurt him in a bid for the Democratic nomination," they write.
In a statement to CNN, Reid said, "I deeply regret using such a poor choice of words."
"I sincerely apologize for offending any and all Americans, especially African Americans for my improper comments. I was a proud and enthusiastic supporter of Barack Obama during the campaign and have worked as hard as I can to advance President Obama's legislative agenda," the senator said.

No he's not! Obama is doing a lousy job and the democrats know it. They've got buyer's remorse, but how do they say it without sounding like they are stupid? They can't and so they make up an excuse for everything the idiot does. Main excuse "well, Bush was worse".
Elizabeth is a twit. She's so boring and predictable. I seldom watch when she's on the show. It's a much better show when she's not there.

Iget so sick of Hasseloff and her blowing off about everthing she doesn't know what she's talking about 1/2 the time she just takes the other side to get her name in. Calling a black man Negro is not so terrible I have heard them called a whole lot worse also hear white men called worse. Lets get off the name calling an down to real business and facts it all sounds like a bunch of big baby's he said no she said wha wha

Thia is what Reed said... a 'light-skinned' African American 'with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.'"
When Reed used the term Negro he was not talking about Obamas skin color. What i get out of what Reed was saying He is light skinned enuff to sound white but he is Black enuff to use the Negro dialect if he wanted to Read Reeds statement and draw your own conclusion... To me what he said was Racist

Whoopi is almost as ugly as Michele Obama. Brrrrr - one gorilla and one chimp. Wait. Is that racist?

Reid:.....Obama, a light-skinned, African-American with no negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one. Translation: A fellow, who is not only scholarly and articulate but who is a camelion, and happens to be Black. One who has appeal and the ability to relate to a diverse population. He is talking about what it takes to make a Black candidate for president palatable to a populus, that is still grappling with racial issues. Unfortunately, we live in the real world and I applaud Mr. Reid for his honesty and quite frankly, his empathy. Believe me, Black folks too, believe that these same assets that Reid describes, have had an impact, to a large degree on Barack's success at being elected. When the going gets rough, I would rather have HR in my corner any day. By the way, my dad is 98 years old, and he uses the term Negro. Lets move on to more important discussions about health, war, economy and oh yes, tolerance.

Isn't it amazing how blacks will defend racist whites as long as they are democrats. I guess if you vote the right way you can get away with anything. Whoopie is liberal first and black second.

RSCOTT, You have it backwards. Trent Lott, George Wallace and Strom Thurman are racists. Harry Reid is not a racist. To equate what Harry Reid said to what Trent Lott said is just plain stupid.
IF A REPUBLICAN HAD SAID THAT...OFF WITH THIER HEAD! BUT, A DEMOCRAT SAYS IT, AND HE'S JUST BEEN MIS-QUOTED & MIS-UNDERSTOOD.

Liberals view minorities as not being capable of either achievement or success. Their solution is to give minorities government benefits and programs in order to “fix” them and make them “better”. Liberals insult, disrespect and pander to minorities in this manner every day. If they want to stay in the liberal democrat game Harry Reid and Bill Clinton will have to stop being so honest. Are you a liberal? Why?

JAGUAR6CY, There are white people on welfare who use food stamps. The social programs that you are referring to are not just for one group of people.
It'd be nice if just once the dumbocrats would apply the same standards to themselves as they apply to the repukelicans. Run Trent Lott out of office because he said something nice about Strom Thurmond but Harry Reid can say anything he wants. Politicians are a JOKE and they ALL ought to be run out of office!

Why all the fuss???!!!!!!
Whites have always played that game. If you wanted a job, you had to, "talk white" in order to get and keep the job.
Republi-Klans have thought people of color as being the slaves that didn't have any sense. We were the ones they could make a stone fool. They are right! Micheal Steele is the best slave to pay that part (Jack-ass).

It seems to me all too often when someone says something they mean and then get caught everyone is so willing to let it go because every one is sorry for saying what they didn't mean. Give me a break, if he said it he meant it. If he didn't he is a jerk for being a politician and not knowing you have to be careful about what you say all the time. He meant it and should resign. End of story. That's all folks.
