Richard Simmons, William Shatner Have Awkward Encounter on 'Today Show' Couch

Richard Simmons got a little too close for comfort to William Shatner during the fourth hour of 'The Today Show,' this morning, prompting the 'Boston Legal' star to say something that the 'Sweatin' to the Oldies' guru didn't particularly appreciate.

"It's time to finally to come out and discuss their relationship," Kathie Lee Gifford says, while Simmons hugs a squirming Shatner.

"Oh my God the cameras are on!" Simmons mock cries and grabs the sports page of the newspaper.

"Is that the way you think straight guys are?" Shatner quipped, prompting Simmons to walk of the set.

Simmons wasn't mad at all, he does that "stomp away angrily" thing all the time.
Also, seems it was okay for Simmons to mock "straight" people, but when Shatner made his (reasonable, to me) remark, that's when we pull out the rulebook?
I'm no fan of either of them, just sayin'.

well? if shatner can take the joke of richard all pawing on him and loving on him (like a gay bottom would do), then, what is so wrong with shatner asking him if he thinks that's how all straight men act? shatner was only responding to the flow of humor richard had started. what if shatner had've said at the beginning, don't touch me? is he allowed to not be physically molested by simmons if he so chooses, or would this have caused a far worse controversy? my goodness at the politically correct confusion to which this country is losing itself.

That scene would never have happened if dumb bottle blond Kathy Lee Gifford hand't instigated. She is such a total camera hog diva. She hasn't changed one bit. Can;t live without being in the spot light. She has had so much "stuff" done to her face I almost didn't recognize her. Now that I know she is back on tv I'll make sure not to watch this part of the Today Show. she does not give Hoda Kotb or anyone else a chance, its all about her. As she gets older she still thinks she's back when she was a cute twenty-two year old brunette with short hair on "Name That Tune".
