Wyclef might be the most recognizable Haitian-American on the planet, but he's certainly not the only celebrity hailing from the reeling island nation. Athletes Samuel Dalembert and Pierre Garcon, rappers Tony Yayo and Pras and 'Heroes' actor Jimmy Jean-Louis also count relatives and friends among the many victims of yesterday's massive Haitian temblor. See what they're saying about the devastating tragedy in the Caribbean.Wyclef Jean – The versatile musician and de-facto spokesman of the impoverished Caribbean nation has let loose a stream of tweets and public appearances in support of his beleaguered homeland. At about 8 a.m. Eastern Time, Wyclef tweeted:
I am on my way to the D R to get to haiti Please urge you council men governors etc we need a state of emergency for haiti
In a statement released today while in transit to his devastated homeland, Wyclef wrote:
I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands will only make this tragedy worse. The over 2 million people in Port-au-Prince tonight face catastrophe alone. We must act now.
Pras Michel – Fellow Haitian-American and former-Fugee Pras has been on the PR offensive in support of Haiti since the disaster struck. His tweets have been both solemn:
Just got word from my peoples in Haiti they estimating about 100-300k people are dead !
...And light:
Someone just told me we need to do a Fugees benefit concert for people, I said we're to dysfunctional to make it happen!
Jimmy Jean-Louis – The Haitian-born 'Heroes' actor appeared on Fox News' 'Studio B' to speak of the devastation of his homeland. Before the earthquake, Haiti "was already a disaster," he said. Now it's "impossible to get through to anybody around my family. I've been trying to get in touch with my mom, my dad, cousins, my friends..."
Its a sad day for Haiti My thoughts and prayers are with everyone and there families. Bout 2 call my family. . .
Samuel Dalembert – The 7-foot tall 76er, Philadelphia's most prominent Haitian-American, discovered his father and sister were safe after reaching them through Facebook. "There are so many other people I don't know about, relatives and friends," Dalembert told the AP. "I'm getting new information all the time. It's just really hard."
Pierre Garcon – The young wide receiver may be a bit distracted during the run-up to Saturday's big playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens. Garcon has relatives – "too many to count" – living in Haiti. According to Yahoo! Sports, many of them couldn't be reached as of Wednesday afternoon. On Tuesday Garcon tweeted:
We need the US military as soon as possible n haiti We need the 4 million Haitian that live out side of haiti to Act now, we need da world!

Where were you when all the poor black and white people of New Orleans were floating in flooded areas and some still dead and rotten after one year in their homes that were still not searched? Give the help where the help is needed first. It is still needed here after years and years of waiting. Pray for Haiti , but give money , houses , food and help to our people first. Something is wrong with the richest country in the world ( next to china )when they help others before they help themselves. Are the Haiti people better then our people , or is there another reason for going there ? Maybe it's because where ever we go to help , we never leave. We keep troops and aids there forever. It's our way of getting a foot in the door and getting the whole body in. Tom
you are way far from being correct.read up on it before you go running off at the mouth.better yet, turn it to cnn and watch the groups of people praying to God,yes our God,the one and only God.voodoo is not a religion.youve got some reading you need to do.

Make sure the celebrities urging people to give money tell us exactly how much THEY are giving. It better be ALOT. The people need alot, as we can all see.

Does anyone else find it funny that Tony Yayo chose to tweet first and then call his family? Guess he has his priorities straight.

TELL THE DAM STARS TO GIVE THEM THE MONEY,THEY ALWAYS DO TO HELP FEED THERE HOMELESS ,HURGERY,AN EVERYTHING ELSE ,BUT DO NOT HELP ANY IN THERE OWN COUNTRY SCREW THEM.

"You will reap what you sow, be careful what you plant in your garden...."..........If that was true, we should ignore Haiti, as it must be that Haitia planted foul, evil things in its garden to earn such a horrible disaster. That's what karma implies - good people get good things and bad people get payback. So, by your logic, this is Haiti's payback for some cosmic bad-deed and we should politely keep out of it or we will be punished for interferring with karma.

Notice any major weather changes. Will now anyone look at the Cern Collider as the cause. Weather change is the key. If you can make it snow in Fla. you can put together enough infor to make a drought in England. Shut down the Cern Collider. It is a true man made death machine that everyone can through there hands up in the air and say "What? no way" Yes way. This is number six. If they did not work the first one would of been the last.

What ever happened to New Orleans? Took three weeke to get them water. I dive there in 14 hours. Something is wrong with us. We go crazy to help people thousands of miles away and we let our Americans wait and wait and wait. We are the suckers of the world. What are all the other big countries doing. Let them take over and then we can concentrate on US , The United States. This stinks almost as much as New Orleans still does. Are we nuts? Tom

Yeah Bill you are not white. What a laugh. I bet u dont help anyone in this country. Another scared white man. LOL

Thanks to the current leadership, we have many homeless and out of work here, where is the helpfor them?

Bill And Tom.
I dont believe for one minute you help anyone in the USA. I can help whoever I want. That is the problem with racists like you. you want to dictate to me how to run my life and spent my money. I for one think America is doing fine and we should give back. That is what America is all about. Because the people in Haiti are black is why you dont want to help. But let a hot azz little white girl go missing in Aruba and all hell breaks loose. Where are you priorities. They are with spoil rich white kids who have it all. I know you are scared because your power is gone. So what. Who cares about you. Oh and by the way America is helping Haiti. If Bush was in office they would all die becauce he was a idiot much like yourself. LOL

When the others start writting checks, we all will too if we can. These people in Haiti are going through rough times. Brad Pitt, and Anglina have already giving one million to help. Its sad some of these famous rich folks sit and expect everyone else to give until it hurts, and some of them give nothing. I am hapy someone is trying at least to help these people. But its hard to give now due to our situation. Everyone in Haiti are in my prayers.

I plead for a job. Let's have some sense of priority. We help other countries, but we can't help ourselves. I understand 100,000 people died there, but there are over 1 million people unemployed here as well.

You know what? Brad Pitt was really nice to give a penny of his life's savings to Haiti. That was really nice of him to put the word out that he owns the entertainment business. Good job Brad, now I have to get back to my 3 jobs. I am behind on my bills.

Why don't they send all these FEMA trailers down there. Even if they weren't hooked up right away. it would be like a safe place to stay the night. Would be better than a tent and better than what a lot of them lived in before the earthquake.
