George Clooney: 'Jersey Shore' Bigger Than 'Avatar'

If you think only 20-somethings of the reality TV generation are hip to the cultural phenomenon that is 'Jersey Shore,' think again. George Clooney, the most A-list of celebs everywhere, told MTV that their controversial cast is more influential than number one blockbuster 'Avatar.'

"'Avatar' is just a giant hit movie, but 'Jersey Shore' is, you know, life," Clooney said... then laughed when he admitted he wasn't sure exactly what or who The Situation is. We're starting to think his endorsement was tongue-in cheek.

Clooney's not alone in his pop culture ignorance. 'An Education' star Carey Mulligan asked innocently, "What's Jersey Shore?" But Gabourey Sidibe, who portrayed the title character of 'Precious,' insisted that she quotes the show on a daily basis.

"A few times a day, I'm always showing off my Situation," she said, indicating her abdomen as she referenced the 'Jersey Show' cast member named for his own, toned six-pack.

@Craig - where do you live that the morons on Jersey Shore represent typical italians? The only thing typical about them is that they are stereotypical. They are caricatures. I'm not saying there aren't italians out there that act like them, but not all italians act like those retards.

All the high hats can knock this show all they want but Ive got to say that Mike "The Situation" is ahelluva lot sexier than Johnny Depp the so called "sexiest man of the year"...
One is a hot young built stud muffin and the other is a skanky skinny middle aged guy..

I guess you're too young to remember how hot Johnny Depp was when he was The Situation's age. The Situation is just a hot stripper that is at this time having his moment in the sun and good for him....but Johnny Depp was, is, and will always be hot. Having a muscular body does not automatically make you sexy!!

Since I was a youngster, I'm 54 now, we always referred to these NJ guys as having patent leather hair. You always knew when they were from Jersey. Lots of gold chains and patent leather hair.
