'Bachelor' Bob Guiney and Wife Rebecca Budig Split

The star of season 4's 'The Bachelor' Bob Guiney and his wife of five years, 'All My Children' star Rebecca Budig, are on the outs, sources close to the couple tell PEOPLE. "Lately it's become clear that nothing is going to save this," a friend of Budig says. "They've just grown apart and are no longer the people they were when they got married."

In a statement, the couple says, "We love each other very much. We are best friends and don't know what the future holds." At Wednesday's Television Critics Association event in Pasadena, Calif., Budig was present -- and noticeably not wearing her wedding ring.

Although a source close to Guiney insists that he has re-entered the singles scene, the friend of the couple denies he's back on the market: "He's not at a point to date because it's not over."

Still, the friend of Budig says, "They've been on the rocks for a long time."

Last March, Budig left her role as mischievous Greenlee on 'All My Children,' citing her need to spend more time in Los Angeles with her husband. But Budig has since rejoined the show. Regarding her marriage, Budig adds, "It's over and it's been over for a while now."

I worked on a fashion shoot January 5 that Budig modeled in, for Los Angeles magazine's March issue. She looked super sexy in a bustier and Rick Owens slash-cut boots--so she'll have no problem attracting new suitors!

Wow...designer clothes and a print photo shoot is all a woman needs to "attract new suitors". That's bull - for it didn't attract the old suitor, so please stop pushing that crap to women. It takes more than looks, weight, a few fashion names and and attractiveness to make a relationship - let a lone a marriage - work. People really need to start focusing on those attributes together than these fleeting ones.

But attraction, whatever it means to the individual, it where most relationships start.

I've always thought she was waaaaaay out of his league. I met her once at a ABC soap event at Disney and she was very gracious to her fans, not to mention she's beyond gorgeous. He's always struck me as kind of a douche. Still, it's gotta hurt, so that sucks.

I never liked that Bob since what he did to Estella on "the Bachelor." He used that show to give himself a career, as opposed to what the show was intended for.

Right from the get-go I just couldn't see them as a couple. She's gorgeous and he's.....Bob. They say love is blind. Lots of good looking celebs marry not so gorgeous people. But looks aren't everything. And in this case even beyond the looks wasn't enough.

I was surprised when Bob was picked as The Bachelor because he wasn't their typical masculine type. I wasn't quite sure what Rebecca saw in him, yet it's not always about looks. I watch AMC and was sorry that she left, but I remember her reasons for doing so was to be close to Bob in L.A. She only returned to the show because AMC built a bigger, better equipped studio on the West coast. Good luck to Rebecca. I'm sure she can do better than Bob Goofy, oops, I mean Guiney!
