Haiti Crisis Means We'll Be Seeing Less Bling at the Golden Globes

Don't count on the most exciting red carpet ever at this Sunday's
Golden Globe Awards. The disaster in Haiti is going to have a HUGE impact on what we see before and during the show.
Sources confirm to me that several A-List stars have already returned dresses and diamonds in exchange for more conservative looks. "Stars are going to be very uncomfortable to be seen having too good a time with what is going on in Haiti," explained one Hollywood insider. "The Golden Globes is known for being the most fun of all the awards show, but no one is in the mood for partying with so much suffering going on."
Will Stars Skip the Carpet All Together? Read More After the Jump!
Expect several A-listers to skip the red carpet altogether. Superstars such as Jennifer Aniston, who is presenting at Sunday's show, are considering entering the awards via a side door.
"It's nice to see that stars like
George Clooney are more interested in helping others than celebrating themselves," adds a Golden Globe nominee, referring to news that Cloons is leading the charge for Hollywood relief, stepping in
to host an MTV telethon.
Special Comment: I said it yesterday and I'll say it again. In times like these with so much tragedy going on in the world, it feels strange to be writing a silly showbiz column. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the horrid events in Haiti.
Please give today anyway you can.

It sickens me to hear all these reports that the Haitians are growing angry at lack of quick help we are giving. Where were all these people during and after 9-1-1 ? who are they to think that they are more deservi9ng than anything else? We dont owe them a single thing . I feel badly for those lives touched by the earthquake but dont insinuate that we owe them a single thing .Let them start their violence, maybe they will take care of theior problems once and for all by killing themselves off

Are you retarded? You certainly sound like it.
Since when does the damn conscience of the world revolve around Haiti?? This must be the latest in fashionable causes. The average birth rate in Haiti is 5 children per female. They are voodoo worshipers and selfishly worsen the AIDS epidemic without a care in the world. The Domican Republic has proudly built their half of the land mass into a wonderful country and Haiti sits around waiting for a handout, multiplying, spreading deadly diseases and cry and wail to their voodoo priests to fix things. You people are suckers. Give your money to someone who deserves it. Wear your bling, drive your car, go to dinner. Ya'll sit around and brag about texting money.
What a mess But still can't figure why it takes longer for AID to reach Haiti. Than it does for 15-20 Haitians on a make shift raft to reach Fla. Do the rafts go that much faster than the Navy Ships or is the desire greater to get here instead of the desire to get there? The speed in which we [USA] react to disasters always seems slow look at New Orleans in our back yard but The Sunami [SP] in Indonesia was hard to get to but we can spit and hit Haiti from the USA.

After the earthquake, if the Pope would travel to Haiti
what he would be taking with him?
- Asuitcase full of large Euro-bills to help the needy.
- A six-foot tall crucifix to intimidate the survivors.

Hey Rob, At least you offer some light fare for us to read by taking a break from all this sadness. Thanks.

You know, the "toned down because of tragedy" awards shows are rarely as toned down as they seem like they will be. The post 9/11 Oscars were very subdued, but everyone looked the same as always.

Why do celebs and other people only seem to care about the poor and helpless when its a big catastrophe? People are losing their homes and jobs every day and no one cares. Everyone is screaming to donate money to the Haitians yet the same people are turning their back on the homeless here.

funny....I think every month thru every year there's some type of world tragedy that is occuring. Let us not forget how long our US Troops have been stationed over seas? SO THIS YEAR...they stress down???? Not in the mood for partying??? I guess then it will be the "norm" for now on then.................

I feel all Hollywood JUNKIES and LOWLIVES should stop jumping on every "Bandwagon" that they wanna exploit. While some of them may be sincere, most are just trying to get their name in the paper.
I am not ignoring the sheer magnitude of this horrible tragedy..and I am happy with our response here..Haiti is a close neighbor and Haitian Americans are hard working people..I grew up in BK and knew many.
But, I have to ask....where was Hollywood when MILLIONS OF AMERICANS lost their money, homes, and pensions....Banks are raping US....Where was their "Bling Embargo" then?
They are exploiting this tragedy ...like they exploit the American people in their socialist ways...Because no matter what...we still need "Movie Stars" and their lifestyles wont change, Socialist or otherwise.
Can someone PLEASE ask these bottom feeders to go back to the days of ENTERTAINING me...I don't need deviant JUNKIE mixed up people ..who are in clubs or popping pills in the bedroom every night(every week another on goes down in a blaze of glory)..telling me how to think..THANKS...I GOT IT!
TERM LIMITS!
God Bless Haiti..God Bless America.
