Dennis Hopper Files For Divorce

Dennis Hopper was diagnosed with prostate cancer in October, and though reports suggest his condition has declined in recent weeks, the actor has just filed for divorce from his wife of 13 years, according to PEOPLE. Hopper, 73, cites irreconcilable differences in his split with Victoria, Los Angeles court records show.

The actor is requesting joint legal and physical custody of their 6-year-old daughter Galen, and plans to provide spousal support to Victoria.

Hopper has been a mainstay in Hollywood for five decades, including an Oscar nomination for co-writing 1969's counterculture classic 'Easy Rider.' He also was nominated for an acting Oscar in 1986 for 'Hoosiers,' and had roles in films like 'Apocalypse Now,' 'Blue Velvet,' 'True Romance' and 'Speed.'

Hopper recently wrapped the second season of Starz series 'Crash.' . He plays maniacal music producer Ben Cendars on the series. The actor also has several film projects in the works.

In my opinion Dennis Hopper is one of the finest actors that has ever crossed the screen. He's not just a one dementional actor his work speaks for itself. I'm saddened about his cancer and his divorce, and pray that his health will get better. I love watching his work.

Nice legacy to leave your 6YO child - divorce her mother just before you die. If I were her lawyer I'd be asking for a lot of court date continuances so he dies first. What a schmuck.

Maybe he wants to limit how much she gets by divorcing her to make sure there is an inheritance for his child, rather than the "widow" taking it all. Ever think of that?

its so she won't get the residuals on his work portfolio after hes gone probably on the advice of his estate planner who knows what his relationship is with his family? elvis family still fighting over his money--hopper seen it all doesnt want to leave stuff undone. smart cat and the best move for that kid. the hell with that wife and her lawyer--she is probably just a vehicle for some crow of a lawyer at this point. hollywood lawyers are the same as the ambulance chasers we all laugh at but it aint funny. dennis im a big fan--my best to you--take care and get the medical weed get real f****d up it helps.
