NBC broke a very basic rule. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Jay was winning the ratings in his time slot and Conan was doing the same in his time slot. Cool. Another rule NBC is breaking is "You can't have it both ways." They need to decide who they are going to go with. Jay or Conan. And if they don't want to tarnish their image even more, whoever it is they don't pick, they need to thank him and wish him well.
NBC is the villain. I wouldn't call Jay a villain, but now that he's off the Tonight Show, he should stand down and let Conan have his shot. As bad as NBC has behaved in this matter, Jay could have defused this whole ugly situation by saying "Thanks for offering my old job back, NBC. But that wouldn't be fair to Conan. I have more money than God right now. I'm going to relax and think about my next move." That would have been the stand up thing to do. The Tonight Show is not a birth right, Jay. Remember, it was The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Not Jay Leno's Tonight Show. Do the right thing, Jay.

Jay may have all the money in the world but his staff needs their jobs

My problem with the whole situation is this. When N B C decided to develope The Jay Leno show, someone must have asked, "What will we do if this show fails?" The should have had a back up plan and made it clear to all parties involved i.e. Conan, Jay etc. They should have had a back up plan that everyone could agree to before putting the Jay Leno Show in place. Why wasn't there a plan. Were they so ignorant as to believe this was fool proof?

I pretty much had this exact conversation - minus any discussion of JLove's lady parts - last night with one of your photo editors (Ben). We reached many of the same conclusions, but I do think that "The Hurt Locker" might upset in the Best Picture (Drama) and/or Best Director categories. Critical support for it seems to get stronger by the day, and it seems like it is gaining real momentum the deeper we get into award season. I'd personally be very excited to see Kathryn Bigelow take best director from James Cameron. The fake smile he'd have to wear while watching his ex-wife take an award he's favored for would be pretty delicious!

I think there should be much more discussion of Jennifer L Hewitt's glitter on the clitty but they should not ignore coversations about her boobs and they should include ample pictures.
