'The Hangover' Was a Game-Changer For Mike Tyson

'The Hangover' might have been a lark-filled booze-soaked buddy movie for some, but for oft-troubled former-heavyweight champ Mike Tyson, it was a life changer. "I was telling my wife that I feel like I won the championship of the world again," Tyson told reporters backstage at the Golden Globes after "The Hangover" took the award for Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical.

"I got all these white people [saying], 'Hey stop.' Hey, where did these guys come from?" the one-time boxing champ added.

Tyson's surprise appearance both on stage during award presentations and backstage after his movie's victory was one of the show's great moments. Backstage, he was bubbly and playful with his 'Hangover' co-stars and pointed out that he had to be convinced to do the movie which displayed Tyson's game comedic chops (and terrible singing voice).

"I didn't really have too much faith in movies," he explained saying he changed his mind when finding out that director, Todd Phillips, had directed 'Old School' which Tyson loved. Iron Mike then went into a spiraling tale involving Phillips, and girls, prompting the suddenly horrified director to step in and break up the talk: "These are private conversations," Phillips said sheepishly.

Back on message, Tyson grew profound about his new success. "This gave me a new lease on life," he said.

Seen the movie and he added a very nice touch to this show. He showed class and added to the laughs. Hope to see more of him in the movies.

Back to the topic....nice to see Mike Tyson in good spirits and enjoying life again. He did have a rough patch losing a child and his run-ins with the law. It's amazing what time can do to a person. :)

jees, seriously?? Even you from a third world should know that president's don't run countries!! Secret societies (and he ones you already know of) do. I wonder if tiny tyson remembers my 24yr. old 4' 11" daughter at a vip party in Vegas for the Norton Virus Group in 2007. I'm the 47yr. old father who got to her story how tiny tyson forced her against the wall rubbing his tongue and lips all over her face. TINY TYSON IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE A NAUGHTY PERSON!

i love the movie the hangover. saw it at least 5 times.. great cast ...one of the funniest movies i have ever seen...
to see mike tyson up there on the stage with the rest of the cast after winning.. was so nice. he was really happy and you could see it and feel it for him..

I think Mike was perfect for this role and this kind of movie and yes, his acting was not first rate but I too am glad that he was cast in this role. This movie was hilarious and my friends in the Ukraine and Russia watched it with me and they too loved it. Maybe Mike will continue to get more roles in the future and he can keep himself out of trouble. It is true that this is more of a "guy" movie and not necessarily a "chick flick" but I think both sexes can enjoy this movie. I loved it!
When Gus D'Amato was alive and still Mike's mentor, Mike was on top of the world and so polite and nice but after Gus died, everything began to crumble for Mike. He was like Mike's father. I followed Mike in the mid 80's when he had a contract with HBO and no one was a better representative of the sport than him. Gus's death I think was the beginning of the end for Mike's career and now I am glad to see he may be returning to the old Mike we met!

Oh Pepe, you and I both know why those Demecrats will not say a word bad against Obama....it is because they are afraid to say they made a mistake and because he is black and god forbid if we were to say anything bad about a black man because we would all be called racist and prejudice. Okay enough said about politics, this is a different board about entertainment and not about politics and we should respect that and just stick to the story about this movie. There are other boards for us to go round and round about politics!

Normally don't watch award shows. Can read about them later.
Read a review that Mike Tyson took on his role in the movie like he took on most of his opponents. Get in, do it right, first time, get out.
Rented the movie, and enjoyed it. Tyson part was, albeit short, was laughable.
This could be a whole new world for him.
