In December, Lindsay Lohan traveled across India to film a BBC documentary to raise awareness and find a solution to stop child trafficking. Although we think her trip was done out of the the kindness in her heart, the public seemed to think it was simply a PR stunt to tweak her "party girl" image. Either way, it was obvious that even her humanitarian efforts failed to positively change her career ... even a little bit.
We aren't denying that she's had some low points (from her D.U.I. arrest to rehab), but she doesn't deserve to be turned into a Hollywood scapegoat. No one is perfect.PopEater is a firm believer in second chances and predicts Lohan will pull it together, and people will start taking her seriously. See why we are Team Lohan ... after the jump.
Imagine being 23 and having your every move critiqued. Honestly, if paparazzi followed most 20-somethings, they would probably make Lohan look like a saint. (There's a reason why college franchises like 'Animal House' and 'Van Wilder' are so popular -- most people can relate to it.) Yet the world is so fixated on her missteps that they refuse to forgive and move on. What are we waiting for?
Lohan optimistically tweeted on January 2 that she wouldn't let people bring her down this year. "My new years resolution is to stop letting the lucky few that have my heart try to constantly tear me down." She continued, "2010 is about moving forward, not backwards. Leaving the bad (people, habits, and negative energy behind) time to make changes-right!?!?"
Gawker's Azaria Jagger, who also mocked the clip, tells PopEater, "What bothers most people is that she refuses to give up even an inch of the spotlight, even during her trip to India... There were those self-congratulatory tweets quantifying how many kids she had saved (and the BBC's subsequent retraction on her behalf) and now this video clip has about one second of screen time that doesn't include LiLo's face."
Perhaps she rushed into fixing her image and wasn't out of the spotlight long enough. It got to the point where her public and private persona got blurred. People were seeing her as "Lindsay Lohan" and associating her too much with the scandals and gossip and not giving her the opportunity to be accepted as a real person with feelings.
Her public perception started to go downhill during the summer of 2007 when she was arrested twice for driving under the influence -- once in May and once in July. Aside from driving drunk, police involved in the July arrest also found cocaine in Lohan's pocket. Weeks later, Lohan checked herself into Cirque Lodge Treatment Center, a high-class rehabilitation center frequented by many stars. It was her second rehab stint, having gone once before in January of 2007.
No one can deny the talent she had in 'The Parent Trap' and 'Mean Girls,' but no one could get past her old hard-partying ways. I'm not saying her recent films like 'Herbie Fully Loaded,' 'I Know Who Killed Me' and 'Labor Pains' (that went straight to cable) were blockbusters, but she was pretty much blamed for bringing each film to the ground. Now that's a lot of pressure. Could you perform at your best if everyone used you like a punching bag?
Even though she's made a few mistakes, give her a break. She's human. Perhaps in the future, she needs to be more picky with her roles and also not try to juggle so many projects at once. I mean come on -- she's tackled movies, TV, music, fashion, spray tanning... the list could just keep going.
"The best thing to do is for her to step away from it from a bit, and come back with a spectacular performance that wows everyone and reminds us all of that raw talent she was born with," J-14 Magazine's Editor-In-Chief Rachel Chang tells PopEater.
Lohan can make a comeback and start making headlines for her acting and not her acting out. Later this year, Lohan will star in Robert Rodriguez's 'Machete' -- which could mark the beginning of a new decade for Lohan. Hey, if the world can forgive Angelina Jolie for wearing a vial of Billy Bob Thornton's blood around her neck, they can definitely move past Lohan's transgressions and accept her as a serious actress and entrepreneur.
Here's to you, Lindsay. Now show us what you've got.

Lindsay was a great talent, I saw her as the young Ann Margaret, I admired her and was drawn to her. Now all I see is Skanky remains of what used to be. She looks tired and haggard and thin and unhealthy! I think that she may end up like several stars in the last decade, dead from an overdose of prescription meds! I don't think she's clean of drugs and it makes me sick to think that this talented young lady has allowed the bad side of Hollywood to consume her once promising career.
Okay so lets say that her young age and the immense attention may have affected her and made her who she is today....then why not move to a less consipicuous place where she might be able to live a more normal life. She unfortunately loves the spotlight and feeds on the Hollywood Lifestyle!
I'm with her dad, I think she needs to be rid of hangers on and those that really love her need to hold an intervention before she makes headlines for dying young and awaiting toxicology reports to know why!
Lohan never had much of a career anyway. Basically, she was a child star who made one good movie as a teen (Mean Girls) and has since proved she can't act, nor sing. I wonder if the author will still be on "team Lohan" when her sex tape hits, or she croaks from an overdose?
I noticed it's all men bashing Lindsay Lohan, what you couldn't get anywhere with her? Sorry bunch of low life men on this here story......leave her alone!
Lindsay Lohan's career?????...Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha....What a waste of a time spent by PopEater to even submit anything about this trailor trash Kid/Punk...Tell Lindsay that the last one out of the trailor park to turn out the lights...............
The only reason anybody cares about her is her crazy personal life.
You know how many child stars there are out there who have done better work than her? Dakota Fanning has been in 10x the good movies that Lohan has and she's only like 14 or something.
Lohan's vastly overrated because anybody else with her resume would have been forgotten a long time ago. She's made 1 or maybe 2 good movies and her defenders act like she was some kind of Oscar nominated actress or something.
She's not Jodie Foster or Tatum O'Neal. She's not even Brooke Shields. Her fame is just like Britney Spears and all the other child stars who should've went away the minute they turned 18, but have kept the media and paparazzi machine on them by acting crazy, which has prolonged their careers.
If she would just go away like most child stars do, then nobody would say anything about her.
Far be it for me to defend the quintessential party girl, however, her performance in 'Bobby' was nothing short of spectacular. She was poignant, earnest and subtle -- from that point on I had hope for her career.
Since then she's only continued down the path of self-destruction and bad career moves (hello fashion show!) but am hoping for her sake that her performance in 'Bobby' may still turn the heads of someone who's looking for potential and not potentially disastrous.
I agree with this article. None of us have the right to judge her, we don't know what she's been through or why she does anything. I have little knowldege of acting, but I feel she has been cast in some poorly written films - e.g., 'I know who killed me'. I have never seen 'Georgia Rule', but the clip on this website was interesting. I, for one, am not giving up on Lindsay Lohan just yet.
exactly!!!!! I hope she could get rid of some bad things in her life and take off again.Mistakes belong to everyone! Her talent is absolutely perfect only if she can make use of it. Follow some positive person in you life and adopt their suggestion, you will success again just as everybody eles thought
What Lindsay Lohan needs to do is just disappear for awhile and let people forget about her before she tries to redo her image. She could probably use the down-time anyways.
Lindsay is a gorgeous, talented and beautiful girl. If she can start behaving maturely and use the knowledge she has acquired from her problems, the good and bad, stays away from the party scene people will see her differently. She can do it if she chooses to. PS: She's still a stunning girl.
I doubt anyone with some education or an IQ above 90 will find anything remotely good about this girl. She is a "never was"...a few Disney kiddie movies. She will not make it in the adult acting world and is only famous for her narcissistic bs and bad behaviour. What a sad state society is in if something as trashy as her can get media attention
