Yet another reason to be miffed with NBC during this late night fiasco: we're now never going to see Elvis on the 'Tonight Show' couch! Conan O'Brien took a couple more swipes at NBC-brass on his second-to-last show as the show's host -- lamenting about the guests who were to come.
"I'd like to apologize to the guests that were scheduled for next week," O'Brien joked. "President Barack Obama, the Pope, the queen of England and our good friend, Elvis Presley was stopping by."
Maybe he was joking about that one. But he might have only been half-joking about some of the celebs he has skewered over the past shows.
"Over the years I've made a lot of fun of Ryan Seacrest, Larry King, Spencer Pratt, Geraldo, David Hasselhoff, Kirstie Alley and Donald Trump," said Conan. "And here's the messed up thing -- they all still have shows."
"Who's the idiot now?"
O'Brien also allowed the audience to hear top-secret details of his reported $45 million departure deal with NBC. They are revealed here:
• "I am prohibited from coming within 500 yards of 11:30."
• "I must return the Etch-A-Sketch my contract was written on."
• "I'm not allowed to make fun of NBC programming. I have to let the programming speak for itself."
• "The cop who escorts me off the lot after my last show must have the rank of lieutenant or higher."
• "Max Weinberg must surrender his key to the women's locker room at the NBC gym."
• "Have to watch at least one NBC show every weeknight in order to double ratings."
• "Effective today, NBC will stop paying for Andy Richter's medical marijuana, and medical Jack Daniels."
• "Must stop production on my documentary expose of NBC: Inside the 'Cock."
In a somber moment. O'Brien said he was "determined to make the best of the situation" and promised "to have a lot of fun on television" in the time he had left.
Tomorrow night is going to be one heck of a final show!
How stupid are the execs at NBC? This is one viewer who will switch back to David Letterman on CBS now that NBC is bringing back Jay Leno. I never watched Leno before on the Tonight Show the first time, nor did I watch him on the 10 pm slot, and I most certainly won't watch him on his "RETURN" to the Tonight Show. I hope Hollywood will boycott Leno. Conan deserved better. All new hosts deserve at least 24 months to establish their style of show. Carson is probably turning over in his gave. Carson may be dead, BUT LENO WILL BE ALSO.....IN THE RATINGS!!! Then.....WHAT WILL NBC DO????? IDIOTS!!!
Conan just needs to take his 45 million and move along. In this economy I can't believe any of these late night hosts are having such a cow over this. Really? They're paid millions of dollars and they are going to quit over moving their show back 30 minutes??! What entitled jerks. (Not to mention all of the employees that work for the show, moved to LA, and now have no job because of someone's inflated ego.)
Not only isn't he funny, but he hasn't any class and is acting like a punk. His numbers were terrible and all he was asked to do was to move half an hour. Instead of doing that, he's out of a job for the time being, but more importantly, his staff(and I hear that they number 120) are also out of a job, with some having moved lock, stock and barrel from NY to LA. He has only himself to blame for all of this. Leno had nothing to do with it and the NBC suits are idiots.
I don't think you understand. The Tonight show airing at eleven thirty five is a tradition that has been held since the fifties. It's not an ordinary show and to change it's time slot is like changing Saturday Night Live to Sunday nights.
He is over paid. Anyone else getting a job and after not showing "Progress" after a certain length of time, is let go - no pay out like this!! Sorry, he does not the following that he thinks he has. From the beginning I said I didn't care for him and I still don't. No talent, cannot hold a candle to Leno or the sleep around Letterman.
Conan is a funny guy..Leno is a funny guy...Letterman is a smartbutt womanizer....why not put them together(Conan,Leno) in a format that enables NBC to capture the best of both worlds and fan bases...
This is all funny stuff. Who cares if he is there or not. He IS getting shafted to some extent...why not take a few shots on the way out. In my opinion he's better than Letterman and Leno, but I'm not going to jump of a bridge because of him being gone. I would imagine that in a year or so, he'll end up on another network. However ALL these clowns are way, way overpaid so they have nothing to whie about except a hurt ego.
someone give conan a straw..HE SUCKS....the only thing funny about conan is his looks...he doesnt deserve the money, nor should the bashing be going on...GROW UP PEOPLE....sticks and stones, may break your bones, but LENO will be the name that hurts you....
I can't figure out why Jay "retired" and won't go away. After his monologue I can't watch at all. Dave is a dirty old man (yuck!) who takes shameless never ending swipes at Sarah Palin- sorry Dave you are old news too....at least Conan loves his family, and he is also funny. I think Conan did get a raw deal. If Amy Poeler's (Arquette) husband had a talk show I would watch him- he is really funny.
The thing that ruined Conan for me was the purchase of the car for over a million dollars. If he wanted to spend NBC's money why not buy something like tons of food to feed the homeless. That would have made more sense instead of something that showed how IMMATURE he is.
He didn't actually purchase that car. It was loaned to the show by an auto dealer in California. Please people, it was a skit...a funny one too. But get over griping how much he's getting paid or how much he is spending...all these guys get paid too much, but that is the reality of our society. Entertainers are paid a LOT of money!!! Go Conan!!
After watching Leno and Conan neither is funny to me. Could you just imagine the tonight show with Robin Williams, he would bury Letterman. Robin would end up being another Carson. Run them both off NBC.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

Of course, that would be the ego(s) of NBC's little president, and of J Leno
Friday will be the last time I ever watch The Tonight Show.

Well I am glad one person will be watching Conehead.

I wonder when Conan O'Brien is going to grow up. He's acting like a spoiled 12 year old.
