Yet another reason to be miffed with NBC during this late night fiasco: we're now never going to see Elvis on the 'Tonight Show' couch! Conan O'Brien took a couple more swipes at NBC-brass on his second-to-last show as the show's host -- lamenting about the guests who were to come.
"I'd like to apologize to the guests that were scheduled for next week," O'Brien joked. "President Barack Obama, the Pope, the queen of England and our good friend, Elvis Presley was stopping by."
Maybe he was joking about that one. But he might have only been half-joking about some of the celebs he has skewered over the past shows.
"Over the years I've made a lot of fun of Ryan Seacrest, Larry King, Spencer Pratt, Geraldo, David Hasselhoff, Kirstie Alley and Donald Trump," said Conan. "And here's the messed up thing -- they all still have shows."
"Who's the idiot now?"
O'Brien also allowed the audience to hear top-secret details of his reported $45 million departure deal with NBC. They are revealed here:
• "I am prohibited from coming within 500 yards of 11:30."
• "I must return the Etch-A-Sketch my contract was written on."
• "I'm not allowed to make fun of NBC programming. I have to let the programming speak for itself."
• "The cop who escorts me off the lot after my last show must have the rank of lieutenant or higher."
• "Max Weinberg must surrender his key to the women's locker room at the NBC gym."
• "Have to watch at least one NBC show every weeknight in order to double ratings."
• "Effective today, NBC will stop paying for Andy Richter's medical marijuana, and medical Jack Daniels."
• "Must stop production on my documentary expose of NBC: Inside the 'Cock."
In a somber moment. O'Brien said he was "determined to make the best of the situation" and promised "to have a lot of fun on television" in the time he had left.
Tomorrow night is going to be one heck of a final show!
I say replace the very unfunny Leno and Conan with Sarah Palin. Now there's act as funny and classy as Rosemary Barr (where they live they can see one another's trailer parks.)
i'm going to miss conan he was the best late night show host EVER i hate those stupid dumbass's letterman , jimmy falon, carson ,well jay leno was good to but just quite not as good as conan goodbye conan i'll miss you hopefuly i'll see you in september
Conan is acting like a petulant spoiled brat. He was promised and given his chance at his "dream job" and proceeded to tank the network. His antics are not funny. They are creepy. Let him go to another network and flame out in a three way battle with Leno and Letterman. Then FOX will cut him loose without a payoff. He'll end up on Cable with an audience of 300,000. Big fat deal.
I am with all the people who say grow up. They would have been better off donating half of the money to Haiti and the other half to the people in the us without jobs and are losing their homes and cannot afford to feed their children. They should all be ashamed of themselves.
If it's true that Connan spent millions on a car for revenge, than I'm glad he's leaving and no one else should hire him, as he will be boycotted. He could have spent the money on food for the poor, or even for haiti, and this stunt, if true, shows they are right to let him go, because it's all about him, and no one else. Do us all a favor connan, and move on...Bye, bye...
I enjoy Conan's sense of humor and will miss him until he returns to tv in Sept. It's my opinion, I'm entitled to it, so all you haters can watch Jay until that nitwit NBC, yet again, shoves him out the door too! They screwed over Letterman years ago, now this back stabbing to Conan because Leno changed his mind. I hope nobody watches Leno and the network gets exactly what they dished out! I know I won't be watching him.
Give me a break. Aren't their a few more important things going on on Planet Earth than the latest whimperings and diatribes of some late night tv swell head? Geez, in 50 years, will it really matter what Conan, Letterman, and leno did? For that matter will anyone even know who they are?
Geez, is it really going to make a difference on Planet Earth what Conan does? Aren't there other subjects that at least matter in the "big picture" rather than the latest rants and slobbering diatribes of some overpaid late night motor mouth? In 50 years, will anyone remember what Conan, Leno or Letterman did or stood for? Will they even know who they were 50 years from now? Get your priorities straight.
These shows aren't funny and don't deserve to be on the air. 45 million dollars and you still get to bash the people paying you. WOW. If I went to my job and ripped them a new one every day, they wouldn't give me money to quit, they would fire me and send me packing with nothing.
It just goes to show how upside down these networks are and the people that run them.
it's hard to believe this type of thing gets this much attention. if people were as passionate about our elected offical we might have a functioning government instead the finger pointing gasbags we have now . this hollywood stuff is not as important as some are making it out to be
If Conan had taken the 12:05am time slot then it is no longer "The Tonight" show but rather "The Tomorrow" show as it is essentially then next day. Conan made the right move.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos
