Mischa Barton Sued for Refusing To Pay Rent

Mischa Barton's landlord says the actress is refusing to pay rent on her $7,000-a-month apartment in New York City. Landlord M.R.A. Realties Inc. says in a lawsuit that Barton rebuffed efforts to collect the last three months' worth of rent on her flat in the trendy Tribeca neighborhood.

Barton's representatives had no immediate response. The landlord wants the 23-year-old actress to pay the rent and legal fees.

The lawsuit filed Thursday says her one-year lease on the Manhattan apartment began in September. At the time, she was in 'The Beautiful Life,' a CW series about the New York modeling world. The show was canceled in September.

In August, Barton was place under psychiatric hold for a month and later claimed her hospitalization was due to her hectic schedule and "terrible" wisdom tooth surgery. "I was down in the dumps about everything there for a while. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom and get the most stressed out just to feel better again. I got completely stressed out and couldn't handle everything, and now I feel really in control," Barton revealed.

The Sheriff should have her materials removed from the house and she should be escorted out of there for not wanting to pay rent.
She is no price, remember she was arrested two years ago on DUI charges. The owner should boot her out of the apartment.

jorgebrito2... first ... in NYC we don't have sheriffs... lol... and it can take up to 6 months to evict someone out of an apartment... even if they are not paying rent... i know in places like Florida you can have someone thrown out the next day... but that's not how things are run here... which kinda sucks

Oh...BOO!!! I'm not liking this story one bit. She's may not be refusing, she doesn't have the money! The woman got sick. She should have let her lease go as her show was cancelled, sure. But some landlords in NYC want you to pay out the lease regardless! And won't let you sub-let! Money grubbing landlord! He should have allowed her to make a deal to get out of the lease instead of letting it get this far.
