Simon Monjack: Hollywood Killed Brittany Murphy

A month after Brittany Murphy's death, her mother and husband say they are convinced the actress died of natural causes, not drugs or an eating disorder. The strain to be perfect under the scrutinizing microscope of Hollywood ultimately lead to her demise, her husband Simon Monjack said on 'The Today Show.'

Monjack claims Murphy suffered a lot of stress in her career after Warner Brothers pulled back on an original offer to let her do 'Happy Feet 2' after rumors surfaced that Murphy was fired from a film. "Hollywood broke her heart," he said. "They have blood on their hands, and I hope they wash them with very hot water because of the way they treated Brittany Murphy while she was alive," Monjack said.

Monjack said he is also considering whether to sue the Los Angeles County Coroner's Department over an initial report that was obtained by celebrity Web site TMZ.com, which listed several prescription medications found in Murphy's home. Monjack claims most of the medicines were his but added Murphy took the anti-seizure medication klonopin and that she also occasionally took Sarafem, a drug aimed at pain and mood swings during menstrual periods.

He also denied that Murphy ever used cocaine. "She had a fear of dying" because she had mitral valve prolapse, a common condition where a heart valve does not properly close. "She would not take too much caffeine. She wouldn't even have a glass of champagne on New Year's. She was just high on life, and people see that as something else I guess."

Monjack, who married Murphy in 2007, said police and coroner's officials have not contacted the family to say his wife's death was from anything other than natural causes. An autopsy was inconclusive and coroner's officials are awaiting the results of toxicology and tissue tests before determining what killed the actress.

Murphy's mother Sharon also denied any rumors that Murphy was battling anorexia. Monjack recalls Murphy ordering as much as four plates of food and eating it all.

Sharon and Monjack plan a public L.A. area memorial sometime in February -- and will also launch the Brittany Murphy Foundation, benefiting arts education for children, sometime soon. "I think the dust will settle, the truth will come out," Monjack said. "I think people will come to realize the genius of Brittany Murphy and come to regret the way they treated her while she was alive."

Regardless... like most of the other younger "actors" she had really NO talent.

Isn't Simon Monjack's head strangely large? I mean, it's not just really large, rather, it's disturbingly and freakishly large. It's the sort of head that would be on a degenerate date-rapist, or maybe a drunken opportunist. I dunno, you decide.

Not everyone in Hollywood uses drugs or Dies from them. Just because she was 32, doesn't mean she died from Drugs! Get your head out of your bum and stop being so Hateful and ASSuming the worst of people.

Sad to see any 32 year old die, except in the case of a gang banger or rapper. When people get rich and famous they have to make that extra effort not to get caught up in the fake plastic shallow life that most of those overpaid millionaires live.

"Hollywood broke her heart": OMG, give me a break. It sounds like they're trying for a movie of the week about their daughter who never really "made" it. I can't believe the capacity of some people to place blame everywhere but where it lies. I'm sorry she's dead at such a young age; I think they should get a grip and stop blaming everyone and everything but the truth.

So many celebrity crazed people in this country just drool at the idea of watching people get all kinds of wealth and fame and then die young.. it's like a morbid national pastime. James Dean, Elvis, John Belushi, Marylin Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Freddie Prinze - to name a few- the list of celebrities who keep the ghoulish habit going is endless, and it matters not what takes 'em, just as long as they live fast, ride hard and die young....
