The last time we saw Joaquin Phoenix, the Oscar-nominated actor was almost unrecognizable with a full beard and long hair. But now, he's back to his old self. The 'Walk the Line' star lends his beardless presence to a video asking you to vote for To Write Love on Her Arms in the Chase Community Giving contest. The winning charity will receive $1 million.
Miley Cyrus also appears with Joaquin, helping Phoenix vote for TWLOHA on Facebook.
"What do you do again?" he asked Miley after she showed him the ropes.
"I'm a singer-slash-actress," she replied, listing her other accomplishments. Watch It

The guy looks scary with or without the beard.

How can you say he looks scary? His eyes are hypnotizing. Despite his horrible character on Gladiator, the close-ups of his eyes captivated me.
It's all relative. Conan lost his job after being promised his dream. 4.5 million or 45,000 a year - it doesn't matter what severance they give him. He's in a business where there are extra zeros -but he still lost his job. I just lost my job too.
I have watched him periodically for 17.7 years. He's refreshing, not intimidating - the most normal likable person I think, on TV. And talk about originality! I also love his sidekick Andy, who also did not deserve this humiliation.
They both have gone though and put up with all of the things we encounter on our job and still hope and think we will be able to keep by performance. Conan and Andy deserved to stay with their dream.
This is an example of greed on whomever represents NBC, which has always been my favorite regular tv network.
I am so set back by this, I will rethink my choice of NBC. I'll miss you guys and thank you - you are the best!

Hey, I lost myt job too...but I didn't get 45 million to walk away. For that kind of money, I am sure he will find another dream.
what does conan have to do with this article?
besides theres only one conan and hes a barbarian.
Joaquin Phoenix is an extremely talented, good-looking guy, and I hope we get to see more of his work soon. If he's been battling some personal 'demons' lately, I hope he wins. Good luck Joaquin.

You forget Juaquin lost his older & extremely talented brother River Phoenix to drug abuse. Often that's part of the suicide/depression spiral. Give the guy a break. Juoquin is trying to help others with this video, and given his strange behavior on David Letterman and elsewhere, perhaps himself.
