Getting to Know...Carly Pope

You know, we're starting to get angry (and resentful) that all of our beautiful women are getting shuttled off to the United States for good acting gigs. Can't someone create a show here where the cast is nothing but good-looking Canuck women? Seriously, there'd be no trouble filling that roster.
This month, we shine the spotlight on Canadian actress
Carly Pope, who's probably best known for her role (topless, natch) in '
Young People F---ing', which premiered at the 2007
Toronto International Film Festival. Since then, she's seen a steady stream of smaller-yet-substantial roles on big American TV shows. The world - at least south of the border - is now her oyster.
Find out more about her after the jump!
Birth Date: August 28, 1980
Hometown: Vancouver, British Columbia
Claim to Fame: She was a literal laugh-riot in 'Young People F---ing', and her natural sexiness certainly made the audience stand up and take notice. She probably grabbed the most international attention when she appeared in '
24' as Samantha Roth. Diehards know her as Sam McPherson from 1999 TV series '
Popular'.
Trivia: - She's sometimes called 'Lita' or 'Carlita'
- She is half Italian, a quarter Yugoslavian, and a quarter Irish
- At the end of 2009, she and her brother, fellow actor
Kris Pope, were carjacked in Vancouver. The perpetrator took Carly on a joyride, and then crashed the car into the new CBC studios. She suffered a broken rib and two cracked vertebrae
Why You Should Care: We feel like Pope's career is just taking off. These little roles in fairly big shows are usually the beginnings of something greater. You heard it here first!
Canuck-o-Meter (1: American, 10: Maple Leaf): 8. Pope divides her time equally between Vancouver and Los Angeles, so she hasn't severed her relationship with her home country - like so many other Snowbirds who head south.
