SAG Awards Style: Stylelist Versus PopEater

Last year, Angelina Jolie made headlines by wearing a Max Azria dress backwards to the SAG awards. This year, there's no such fashion highlight -- but still, the Hollywood ladies managed to wow us on the red carpet at this year's ceremony. (Or in some cases, make our eyes roll.)
Stylelist's Marissa Gold teamed up with PopEater's Denise Warner to debate the night's best and worst looks from different points of view -- style expert versus gossip hound. We'll tell you what we loved, and what we didn't.
And check out Stylelist's red carpet gallery.
Favorites of the night:
Marissa Gold, StyleList: My two favorites were
Kate Hudson and
Diane Kruger.
MG: They both just looked very va-va-voom to me.
Denise Warner, PopEater: I loved Diane Kruger's dress, the color just seemed a little off to me, I don't know why.
MG: Mustard is not the easiest color.
DW: It just seemed that the dress didn't know if it was mustard or gold.
DW: But then I may have weird taste, because I loved the print of Anna Paquin's dress.
DW: Even though it was a little crazy.
MG: It was definitely an unusual choice.
MG: But I liked it, too.
MG: I also think Giuliana Rancic deserves some credit.
MG: As the host, she gets overlooked, but she always looks amazing.
DW: I can't argue with that.
Mixed feelings:
MG: I was not a fan of Drew Barrymore's dress.
DW: Ohh yes, Drew.
MG: Drew's hair was a mess, and the dress was so big and tiered and fancy, it just didn't work together.
DW: It almost looked denim.
DW: I'm mixed on Tina Fey.
DW: I liked the color and I loved her shoes.
DW: But the fit of the dress didn't work for me.
MG: I'm with you on the shoes -- how can you not love Louboutins?
MG: I think the win this time was just the fact that she used a stylist.
DW: Does she usually dress herself?
MG: At the Globes, she definitely had the look of someone who styled herself.
MG: This was a big step up.
DW: I was not a fan of her Globes look.
DW: What did you think about Meryl Streep?
MG: I think she had a great dress for a garden party.
MG: But it did look a little strange for the occasion.
DW: Exactly, she looked good, just out of place.
MG: The black accessories were also a little strong.
The white hot trend:
MG: What do you think about Kate Hudson in white?
MG: Is she trying to tell us something?
DW: She's not fooling anybody.
MG: Is it like a 'hey A-rod, this is what you're missing, buddy' message?
DW: If that's what she's trying to say ...
DW: It's working.
DW: He should be jealous.
DW: Usually I'm not a fan of that kind of cut ... high in the front and no back, but she rocked it.
DW: There was a lot of white, I noticed.
MG: Definitely a big trend.
MG: I think the whole not wearing white after labor day idea is done for good.
MG: It was a silly rule.
DW: It really was.
DW: But they have to be careful it doesn't go too bridal.
DW: And Kyra Sedgwick's Vera Wang was a little too close for me.
MG: Definitely. Maybe she and Kevin Bacon were planning to reuse it to renew their vows.
DW: They've been together forever, maybe they should.
MG: They're adorable.
Missed the mark:
DW: Worst dresses of the night? Mine would be Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock .
MG: Definitely agree with Bullock -- I love McQueen, but that looked like a dress that grandma would have picked from Loehmann's back room.
DW: I think my grandmother actually has that dress.
DW: I don't know what her deal is, she's the big thing this season, winning all the awards.
DW: We know she looks great naked from 'The Proposal,' so fitting her into a dress shouldn't be a problem.
DW: And then Jesse James wore a matching tie? I'm sorry, are we at the prom?
MG: A corsage would have been the only thing to make that dress more matronly.
MG: Also, I cringed when she told him "I want you" during her acceptance speech.
DW: That was a little TMI.
DW: When she's inevitably nominated for an Oscar, I hope she wears something better.
MG: I agree, but she definitely has a history of pushing it, fashion-wise.
DW: As for other dresses I did not like, Marion Cotillard's reminded me of a toned-down version of that Bjork swan disaster.
MG: Definitely!
DW: And her shoes were not good.
MG: Short and fluffy is a difficult combination.
