Scarlett Johansson on Broadway: 'Dream Come True'

Last night at a trendy restaurant in New York City, Liev Schreiber and Scarlett Johansson joined hundreds of revelers including Ellen Barkin and Zachary Quinto to celebrate the opening of their play, a revival of Arthur Miller's, 'A View From the Bridge.'
Scarlett looked every inch a movie star, evoking the old time glamour of Elizabeth Taylor and Ava Gardner. She was relaxed and clearly thrilled to be there. Hubby Ryan Reynolds was not in attendance but Liev's partner, Naomi Watts posed for photos with her boyfriend.
"When I was a kid I wanted to do musical theatre, that's why I started acting because I loved Broadway musicals,"
Johansson told Popeater. "I never imagined that I would be debuting in an Arthur Miller play. It's been a dream come true."
She plays a working class Brooklyn doll with a pure Brooklynese accent but says adopting it was a breeze.
"I was born and raised in Manhattan so it's an accent I'm really familiar with," she told us. "My big fear was that I would forget my lines. Before we started rehearsals I was convinced that would be the one thing to be paralyzing to me but once I started working on it, the lines became second nature."
And yes hunky husband Ryan is very proud of his wife's Broadway debut but the family member who is most impressed is Scarlett's mom.
"She's over the moon," she exclaimed. "It's like now I've finally arrived."
Praise for Johansson's performance extends beyond her circle of family and friends as well. The entire cast has received glowing reviews from various media outlets, including
The Washington Post and
The Hollywood Reporter.
New York Times reporter
Ben Brantley says of Johansson, "Film actresses as famous as Ms. Johansson tend to create their own discomfort zones onstage, defined by the mixed expectations of fans and skeptics...Ms. Johansson melts into her character so thoroughly that her nimbus of celebrity disappears. Her Catherine is a girl on the cusp of womanhood, feeling her way down familiar paths that have suddenly been shrouded in unfamiliar shadows."
Johansson's performance comes as a refreshing change of pace after a string of Hollywood A-listers, including
Katie Holmes and
Julia Roberts, were met with dismal reviews after trying their luck on the Great White Way.

Like Obama for president, Scarlett Johansson is a media creation.
Nothing there but baby fat arms, and breasts.
Pitiful actress, and sorry, not attractive.
