No more Mr. Nice Guy for Neil Patrick Harris. The "How I Met Your Mother" star turned fill-in "American Idol" judge vowed to be even nastier than Simon Cowell before the show even started. Asked what he hoped to accomplish in the judge's chair, he responded, "My goal is to shatter the dreams of thousands. If I make two to three thousand people cry, I have done my job."
Maybe he was joking a little bit with that. But there were plenty of tears on the show from failed contestants. More than 11,000 people showed up at the Dallas auditions with some 31 receiving passes to Hollywood. There were still plenty of opportunities to say "no" for all the judges.

Homo guys like Neil are some of the most hateful jerks around! He'll do fine.
He was real nasty last night. I would have liked
to slap him across the face. Who does he think he is?
He can't replace Simon, noone can. He thought he was
Mr Cool, he was far from it

Neil Patrick Harris was cool, one of the best guest judges we've had this season. My vote for best guest judge is Shania Twain, but NPH came pretty darn close. Surprisingly (for me, at least), Kristin Chenoweth was good, too. Posh Spice and Joe Jonas were nice to the contestants, but they didn't really add anything. Worst guest judge has to be Avril Lavigne, followed closely by Katy Perry and Mary J. Blige. Katy Perry, in particular, was a big disappointment...I thought she was an excellent choice, as she's smart and beautiful, but she turned out to be a real "Queen," who wasn't much fun at all.

Neil Patrick Harris was my favorite of the guest judges so far. I particularly liked the way he stood up to Simon Cowell. He stood up for a couple contestants that Simon wrote off for whatever reason. I would hardly call him as mean as Simon or even attempting to be like Simon. He did a really good job.

I think the entire show is a big joke.Simon is nothing but an over grown spoiled child. The chick who thinks she is Gods gift to the world is a big joke as well, and now there will be another stupid broad to judge, and she is usless period. I think that Randy is the only one who knows anything about music at all. I would have liked to been on there with pretty boy, and i would have probably slapped him out of his little seat

I absolutely agree. AI has turned into something different. All of the guest judges either acted stupid, (MJB), or just plain mean. It seems to me that this is how the show's producers want them to act....ignorant. There is no need to be mean, or insult the way people look, dress, whatever. And some, particularly VB, were only interested in how they looked, as evidenced by the first remark make after each contestant sang. That should be no surprise, however, when the judge is so superficial and vain, only interested in her own looks, with no real substance to back it up, (kinda like the 'mean girls' in middle and high school). I guess it's a good reason to stop watching. Their ratings have plummeted, and really, it's time for AI to be over.
Don't watch anymore. The show is a forum for degenerate, evil, egomaniacs. Time to move on and put this trash to the curb.

gay people think their the only ones that can see talent.Infact they do not reflect the general public in choices, but they can decorate a room..lol

Possibly, but they do spell better than you ttrexxx. It's they're, not their.
....why is an openly gay actor judging a singing contest?
Reply
He is a singer and performed on stage since he was at least a teen.
Another one for you, why was an opening gay man a judge and allowed to ask questions for the miss america pagent?
Did Simon and Neil get into a slapfight?

Hey Ya Maniac what does "openly gay" have to do with judging american idol? I am straight, however, I firmly believe that if you are gay, it doesn't mean you have no other skills outside the bedroom. I was a little surprised at his frankness, but found his criticism helpful and entertaining.

i was hoping neil patrick harris had a real goal: TO KILL JOE JONAS.

here's the 4 people who should be 'american idol' judges for 2011. susan boyle, randy jackson, neil patrick harris, and katy perry.
I am sure Ms. Patrick Harris had help on the way up with her career - so when she on the way down, hopefully, she will remember those that helped her but she didn't help them. She will never be a part of this family. Any awards she hosts, I will never watch and I am sure I am not alone. Why would anyone with a heart want to make someone cry. Oh, I guess he doesn't have one.

Neil Patrick Harris was hilarious! He would make a great replacement for Simon. He also sings, dances, acts....knows what it takes to win! LOVE HIM! His sarcasm can't be beat. :)
