PopEater Fans Want Anderson Cooper to Replace Regis on 'Live!'

Earlier this week PopEater's Rob Shuter brought up a great question: How do you replace Regis Philbin? Although the show has been testing many great potential new hosts while Philbin underwent his recent successful hip replacement, none of them have been able to fill his huge shoes. Despite speculation that a woman might move into the 'Live!' seat, PopEater readers on Facebook and Twitter showed immense support for Anderson Cooper. Does he have what it takes?

While there were many host suggestions, which included everyone from Conan O'Brien to Reese Witherspoon and Mark Consuelos, Cooper was the clear fan favorite.

"Hmmm... I LOVE LOVE LOVE Anderson Cooper (and I think Kelly does too!). Anderson would be awesome," PopEater Facebook fan, Doreen Rosa Guilfoyle wrote.

Cooper has filled in for Philbin in the past to rave reviews. But most recently, the CNN anchor has been gaining a lot of attention lately reporting from Port-Au-Prince following the earthquake in Haiti.

PopEater's Twitter fan @MJWenchy said, "Whenever Regis is ready to retire, I would love Anderson Cooper to replace him."

I think Anderson Cooper will stay with his news job. Mark Consuelos was my first choice, but then they have children and want to go on vacation. They have then the people like Anderson or Howie, but one of the hosts was always there. I guess, they could make it work. Mark is whatever Kelly says about her husband, handsome, smart, funny ect.ect.

I agree with Renette. If I had a vote, I'd vote to take the entire show off the air and replace it with eduational programming for the youngsters. Never liked the show...ever.

Time for Regis to retire, he is just annoying. Mark Consuelos would be my preference

Anderson Cooper is certainly entitled to any kind of "hot dog" he wants to eat but I don't want that image with my cup of coffee in the morning.

I watch the show almost every morning. Anderson or Mark would be fine as replacements. Most of the other guest hosts made little or no impression. Anderson and Mark seem "at home" on the show and Rippa seems to fit with them best.

Wow Anderson is great as guest....but for my choice it would be Mark Consuelos...I would watch it every day...he is cute, he is quick, miss him on Oprah on Fridays...and they make such a cute couple!

Mark would be all wrong as co-host. Kelly needs someone who can out talk her. Someone with something interesting to say.

When Mark is on I turn to Ellen.... Too much talk about their KIDS .. SOUNDS LIKE KATHY LEE!!!!! We all know Regis is the big draw for rating and Gilman would not be as rich as he is without him.....Kelly is very clever to slide along with whoever is next to her...most of the time .Remember Clay Aiken? She still regrets the action of that day.Notice HOW NICE she is to Neil Patrick Harris! He is also in the mix for a fill in for Regis.... The best choice in my mind would be someone new each week and let the veiwers have a vote that would be at least considered by the execs at ABC.... maybe the have learned since they made George the host at GMA...HOWS THAT WORKING OUT FOR THEM?????? Bad rating....but great for NBC and FOX
