PopEater Fans Want Anderson Cooper to Replace Regis on 'Live!'

Earlier this week PopEater's Rob Shuter brought up a great question: How do you replace Regis Philbin? Although the show has been testing many great potential new hosts while Philbin underwent his recent successful hip replacement, none of them have been able to fill his huge shoes. Despite speculation that a woman might move into the 'Live!' seat, PopEater readers on Facebook and Twitter showed immense support for Anderson Cooper. Does he have what it takes?

While there were many host suggestions, which included everyone from Conan O'Brien to Reese Witherspoon and Mark Consuelos, Cooper was the clear fan favorite.

"Hmmm... I LOVE LOVE LOVE Anderson Cooper (and I think Kelly does too!). Anderson would be awesome," PopEater Facebook fan, Doreen Rosa Guilfoyle wrote.

Cooper has filled in for Philbin in the past to rave reviews. But most recently, the CNN anchor has been gaining a lot of attention lately reporting from Port-Au-Prince following the earthquake in Haiti.

PopEater's Twitter fan @MJWenchy said, "Whenever Regis is ready to retire, I would love Anderson Cooper to replace him."

i'm not sure america is ready to accept an openly gay man to replace regis. i believe susan boyle would be a better choice.

I think Anderson Cooper would be a great host or even Mark but could they have picked a more ill-fitting host then Drew Carey for the Price Is Right? Ugh!

If Mark is to take over, he needs to do better in interviewing guests. He has a tendency to cut them off in the middle of their sentences. I realize there is a time element, but he does it even when the interview goes on longer. Cooper is very good interviewer and his timing with Kelly is great. Unfortunately, I think his CNN duties would not allow for a morning show.

Would just LOVE to see Anderson Cooper take Regis' spot. Don't think it would work with Mark C....who would take over when they both go on vacation? There should always be one host there. But I also love Anderson on CNN.

I like Mark, but I think they need a stronger male voice. I really don't want to hear about their family every day especially their romantic times. TMI...I have liked a lot of the guest hosts they have had. You just need another Regis type figure. Don't want another woman tho.

Please not Anderson Cooper!!! I would stop watching the show if I had to look at a man that looks like a gay whippet dog with a silver spoon in its paw. Love Kelly, Love Regis but everytime Cooper sits in I have to turn it off.

If and when Regis retires then the show is over. Kelly is self serving and annoying and interrupts Regis all the time. Her husband is not morning show material.
