Cops Arrest Rip Torn for Allegedly Breaking Into a Bank

Rip Torn is finding himself in more trouble these days.

The actor was arrested Friday night for breaking into a Connecticut bank, TMZ reports.

According to TMZ, Torn -- seen here in a mugshot from a 2006 DUI offense -- allegedly broke the window of the bank and was found lying on the floor, "highly intoxicated," and carrying a "loaded revolver."

However, the president of the bank hopes the 'Men in Black' star gets help. He tells TMZ that he didn't think Torn meant any harm.

Hefaces several charges, including burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, carrying a gun without a permit and carrying a gun while intoxicated. He is expected to appear in court on Feb. 1.

The way I read the report is this he was so drunk he did not know what he was doing much less that it was a bank he was at. Think about it at night bring a gun to an empty bank, no way to open a safe. Now he may have though it was some type of store but in his state he would not even been able to pull that off if he was so drunk that he broke a window out went in and feal asleep on the floor. But what I think happened is he was drunk and as most drunks that have no idea where they are do find a place to sleep it off, as for the gun it could have been for protection. The streets are a dangerest place to live. I know I worked the streets as an Officer for a while.

A drunk with a loaded revolver breaking through the glass window at the bank--HELLO??? The banker is more of an idiot than perpetrator for his "holier than thou" magnanimous posture. If that was an unknown Black man, he would either have been beaten and shot dead by police at the scene or the bank would be filing every charge imaginable.

Where are the actor's associations that are supposed to help out-of-work actors down on their luck? Put him in rehab if he'll accept it, and get him the psychological help that he needs for Pete's sake.

The president of the bank sounds like a kiss ass. Who the hell breaks into a bank and the idiot president says " Nah he was just taking a rest, it was all in good fun" F*** that idiot president and throw this piece of trash in jail!!!!!!

I didn't even know that Rip Torn was still alive. He "dropped off the radar" 30 years ago. When was the last time he actually acted in anything? Maybe this was his way of getting in front of a camera again.

Mr Torn was seeking help when he broke the law, lets give him a little respect and hope this will turn his life around. If you have not done the twelve sets beleiving that one day at a time may correct someones off the path direction,then don't throw stones.

Alleged means supposedly as in he could have broken the window. But how does that explain how he manged to lay on the floor. He could have walked into the bank plastered and someone else could have broken the window. Still he was a talented actor. He's choosing to waste his life by drinking. It is a shame.
