Did Taylor Swift Deserve Album of the Year Grammy? PopEater Readers Are Split

At the Grammys, John Legend read out Taylor Swift's 'Fearless' while presenting the album of the year award.

Swift beat out favorites 'The Fame' by Lady Gaga and Beyonce's 'I Am ... Sasha Fierce' for the night's big prize. Now, we don't think she necessarily deserved the award. We even go as far as saying that she won because of Kanye West. His highjacking of her VMA speech may have been the best thing that ever happen to the country singer.

But we wanted to know what you thought. So we asked -- did she deserve the album of the year? Well, over 29K voted and 50 percent of people didn't think her album was worthy.

Our second question -- do you think the decision to honor 'Fearless' as the album of the year had anything to do with Kanye's VMA outburst? -- was met with a similar reaction. Over 25K votes were cast, and half of those who answered said no, and the other half said yes.

While Lady Gaga may not be everyone's cup of tea (I am not a fan), at least when you listen to her you can tell she has a remarkable voice and remarkable song writing skills when the props and the theatrics fade away. Same for Beyonce, who can sing a song without any backup and sound beautiful. But Taylor? She may be a gifted songwriter who knows how to weave a 15 year old girls view of the world, but sing? I have seen her on every TV show imaginable and she is always tinny, weak voiced and flat. There is no artistry in that.

Thank you! Thank You! Thank You!!!!Finally I hear someone else with the same opinion! Every time I hear her sing I say "What in the World??!! She is so flat...she might hit a few notes per song on key but not much!! I think she has gotten her popularity from the young people and that is it. She definitely should not have gotten album of the year!

I am not one to listen to the radio stations that Taylor Swift is on so I didn't even know who she was. The first time I heard her I thought " this girl can't sing". Every time I have heard her live since then I am in the living room thinking.....more support, more support....she is so flat and can't hardly listen to her.
She does write nice tween/teen music.

Yeah, I thought the duet at the Grammy's that Taylor Swift sang with Stevie Nicks was not very good on Taylor's part. She sopunded out of key. It was embarrassing to have Taylor with such a classic as Stevie Nicks up there butchering Fleetwood Mac's song.

I hope Taylor's Charity is over, I get annoyed watching her perform,talk, just annoyed. Beyonce,Lady Gaga, Anybody but her please!!. She is goofy,childish, immature, and cannot sing or perform,no appeal at all please!! TELL HER RECORD LABEL TO STOP WRITING GOOD THINGS ABOUT HER.

I agree that Taylor's live performance was somewhat weak. However, I DEFINITELY feel the award for Album of the Year belonged to Ms, Swift. Her music is wonderful, especially for someone so young. The new song Fifteen is powerful and needs to be heeded by all early teens! Beyonce is wonderful but all her songs sound alike. Lady GaGa uses too many gimmicks. Taylor Swift is on top of the pop music world.

I agree....Taylor is making every teenage girl out there think you don't even have to sing in tune and you can be a star. She is a great songwriter but there are plenty of writers out there who never get a shot because they can't sing and frankly neither can Taylor except on record with a lot of help

I totally agree with you inkdrone...Beyonce and Lady Gaga can sing and beautifully too....Swift can't sing for crap!!!! She didn't deserve to win Album of the year.

Swift cannot carry a tune and is off key every time she "sings".
Hope her 15 minutes of fame will be over and done soon, verrrry soon.

Taylor will be around for a long time.. At least you can understand the words when she sings them instead of wondering what you just heard.. For someone who cannot sing she sure has sold awhole lot of albums and concert tickets.. Besides that when have you seen her caught up in drama being arrested, half naked, or drunk and partying.. She might have forgot a speech but at least she doesnt bad mouth anyone in public like half of the other stars in the world.. As for her performance last night i did not see where Beyonce' was any better she usually has her dance moves going on and that is what people want to see and they did not see that last night.
