Did Taylor Swift Deserve Album of the Year Grammy? PopEater Readers Are Split

At the Grammys, John Legend read out Taylor Swift's 'Fearless' while presenting the album of the year award.

Swift beat out favorites 'The Fame' by Lady Gaga and Beyonce's 'I Am ... Sasha Fierce' for the night's big prize. Now, we don't think she necessarily deserved the award. We even go as far as saying that she won because of Kanye West. His highjacking of her VMA speech may have been the best thing that ever happen to the country singer.

But we wanted to know what you thought. So we asked -- did she deserve the album of the year? Well, over 29K voted and 50 percent of people didn't think her album was worthy.

Our second question -- do you think the decision to honor 'Fearless' as the album of the year had anything to do with Kanye's VMA outburst? -- was met with a similar reaction. Over 25K votes were cast, and half of those who answered said no, and the other half said yes.

Carol, Ease up. What are you, a music critic or an "American Idol" groupie? You probably prefer The Jonass Bros. or Hannah Montana Cyrus grinding on a pole. Its funny that Carrie Underwood heard the same criticism when she took all the CMA awards. Taylor Swift is like 20 years old. I hate to break it to you, but she will be around for a long time. I hope you get your 15 minutes of fame. In the mean time, if you don't like Taylor's music, change the station, like I do when I hear music I don't prefer.

I have never actually heard a Taylor Swift album myself, I have only heard the song she sings at the award shows and from what I can hear there is no question in my mind that she should have not won such a major prize. The only people I know who listen to her, and like her, area really young kids, like my nieces and nephew, who do and like her. They also like Barney, the purple dinosaur!

I have seen Taylor Swift in person. Unfortunatly, she was on a tour with George Strait so I had to sit and listen to her to see him. And I can tell you right now, this kid CANNOT SING, and SHE IS NOT COUNTRY. She needs to be in pop if anything. She DOES NOT deserve the awards she is winning. Her voice is terrible without the bells and whistles of the recording studio. Beyonce or Lady Gaga should have won. NOT Swift.

My roots in country music go back to Bob Wills. Country fans want country stars - not "pop" princesses. If I can't two-step or waltz to a song, I feel like something is missing. Taylor's "rise" feels like it's been engineered and it's too much, too fast and that makes me feel uneasy. Her talents (?)need to age. This is not another Brenda Lee or Tanya.

I have never heard her sing yet that I was impressed. She sings off key and is awkward on the stage. Beyonce definitely is the better performer and should have walked away with everything.

Taylor needs to stick to song writing and let someone who can sing sing her songs. She is terrible. I am a huge country and music fan but she cannot sing a lick.

No Taylor Swift did not deserve the award..... who pays the judges? She has no voice range, and was totally flat when trying to sing with Stevie Nicks... please.. if the judges aren't being paid off then they are deaf.....

Taylor did not deserve to win last night. To be honest everyone is talking about how great and fantastic lady Gaga and Beyonce are and yes they are But did anyone listen to Dave Matthew's CD? It was one of the best he has ever made.He wrote every song and one song had more meaning then anyones entire album. He sings on key and he plays around the world,he is always there to help out a cause, and not just when the cause is huge all year round he is giving a helping hand. The Dave Matthews band is top of the line, and I havn't seen one praise towards him from last nights' show. He was jamming on that stage and when they called out the CD title he was so exicted. That is who should of won.

Taylor Swift's music all sounds the same. She is not an entertainer as the other ladies.To be atrue entertain you must be able to entertain sing dance not just stand there smile and sing. All I can say the tween's must be for her. She is rather fakey and way over exposed.

Fearless is a great album that will remain classic for generations, however, she's been touring constantly for a couple years now and she's only twenty! Her voice needs a rest, and the pressures of fame and other people's money interests are pushing her too hard. She's a great songwriter, and sings great when she's not so tired and nervous. Taylor has managed to touch girls her age all over the world, and was number one in 21 countries last year with an album she wrote, arranged and recorded at eighteen! She's got boys and men who are sick of the same bump and grind hoe shows all over the world that would marry her in a heartbeat, too. Fearless DID deserve the Album of the Year, too!
