Did Taylor Swift Deserve Album of the Year Grammy? PopEater Readers Are Split

At the Grammys, John Legend read out Taylor Swift's 'Fearless' while presenting the album of the year award.

Swift beat out favorites 'The Fame' by Lady Gaga and Beyonce's 'I Am ... Sasha Fierce' for the night's big prize. Now, we don't think she necessarily deserved the award. We even go as far as saying that she won because of Kanye West. His highjacking of her VMA speech may have been the best thing that ever happen to the country singer.

But we wanted to know what you thought. So we asked -- did she deserve the album of the year? Well, over 29K voted and 50 percent of people didn't think her album was worthy.

Our second question -- do you think the decision to honor 'Fearless' as the album of the year had anything to do with Kanye's VMA outburst? -- was met with a similar reaction. Over 25K votes were cast, and half of those who answered said no, and the other half said yes.

To D3Z:Fearless was #1 for 11 weeks on the Billboard Top 200. Lady Gagas The Fame only managed to reach #2. As for album sales Fearless was the best selling album of 2009 and the Grammy was awarded for best album of 2009. Who cares if Gaga can dance. That just means she spends most of her concerts lip syncing.

I would not pay for Taylor's music either, whether concert, CD, etc. Wouldn't happen. She is off key all the time. Mixers on recordings make her sound tolerable and her song writing skills are good. But as far as singing live, and a talent to do so, she doesn't have it. Taylor reminds me of a little girl playing grownup and it just doesn't suit her.

Taylor deserved to win, and I'm glad she did. Yes, her voice is average at best, but I've seen her 3 times and was impressed by her performance. Real Country? No. And neither are 80% of the current country singers. Taylor has sold way more albums than googoo gaga, and Taylor is more kid friendly than the drugged out skank. Taylor actually plays an instrument or two, and will write more adult songs as she ages. The people hating her are simply jealous, with a few valid hard core critics in there. NOW, WHERE WAS THE TRIBUTE TO BILLY POWELL???

Really folks, how is this happening?? this girl sings off key. Her singing is not that good! I watched her pick up all the awards at the Country Music Awards and wondered then how in the world this was happening? These award shows are no longer based on talent but on personality and because of this I've lost interest in watching. The teenagers love this girl because they can relate to her songs. This popularity DOES NOT qualify her for all the awards she's winning at her young age.

Taylor Swift is, I am sure, a very nice young lady and has made herself very rich and famous. There is one small problem, she is always off key,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,sings in a flat voice and cannot carry a tune. I am in high hopes that she will take some of the money she had made and get herself a voice teacher. I, personally, cannot stand to listen to her as she hits so many bad notes. I cringed last night when she sang with Stevie Nicks, sho does have an incredible voice. If not for Stevie I would not have watched her segment. Lady Gaga and Beyonce, as female entertainers, are light years above Taylor. Just my opinion.

I'm a big country music fan and from the very first time I heard heard Swift's first song, I wondered how she ever got a recording contract. Country music is heavy with really fine vocalists: Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Faith Hills, etc, etc., etc...........

This little gal's following and the ones who buy her music are pre-teens and teens and that's who buys her cds. she directs her writing at this age group and that's who buys her music.

I've yet to hear her hold a note for longe then one half of a second. I'm embarrassed for her each time I hear her.

Who are the morons who voted her even one Grammy??? Perhaps for song writing but certainly not for singing. She's god awful.

Worst of all, there is nothing........nothing........ country about her singing.

I don't suppose it's human nature to like what you like without denigrating the taste/talent of other people. I don't have to criticize rap music to not like it. I just don't like it. You really don't need a rationale not to like Taylor Swift. I don't have to criticize his music or note his arrogance to not like Kanye.
