'Deadliest Catch' Captain Suffers Stroke

Phil Harris, the Seattle-based captain of the 'Deadliest Catch' fishing vessel was flown to Anchorage after suffering a stroke while the boat was in port at St. Paul Island, Alaska.
According to the
Discovery Channel Web site, Capt. Harris underwent surgery over the weekend. His sons, Josh and Jake, joined him there. The Web site account says it may be some time before "anything substantial" is known about Harris' condition.
His sons, Josh and Jake Harris left a quick message on the network's Web site to "thank everyone for their heartfelt thought and prayers. 'The Deadliest Catch' community has always been more like family than just fans, and Discovery Channel joins the Harris boys in thanking everyone for their wishes of support. Captain Phil is resting comfortably and is in the care of excellent doctors and nurses. We will update everyone on his progress as best we can."
The Discovery Channel reality show depicts the crab fishing industry in the dangerous waters off Alaska.
The Web site reports a family friend, Derek Ray, has flown to St. Paul to take over the role of relief skipper for the rest of the opilio crab season.

Phil was a walking time bomb and this was bound to happen. He seems like a good guy and an even better dad. I hope his boys will take this for what it is and turn some of their behavior around before they head down this same road. Best of luck to you Phil in your recovery. Hopefully the stroke was not too serious.

Kim said it All.
Very nice
I agree Kim. You're in our prayers Phil. Love the show, it just won't be the same without you. Praying for a speedy recovery.
Phil is a great guy, wish him the best. Please, Kim, do not go around blaming people for their illnesses.
Yeah, not like you can hold someone accountable for their health! Smoking cigarettes non stop and not getting exercise has no affect on that stuff at all....
PHIL TAKE CARE. GET WELL.

Lauretta, darlin', your sentiments are lovely but please, please, buy a dictionary - your spelling is horrible!
Better yet, brush up on your spelling by reading the dictionary. Don't just use it.
when I read that one of the captains had a stroke...I Honestly assumed it was Phil...Love his work ethics and his persona...but he has to drop the habit
Good luck Phil, but really I am not shocked. Smoking , long hours and hype personality add up to a time bomb. Listen dude, I quit it and drinking because of health issues , the first week is the hardest.

Ed Hill must be a wonderful example to us all, but Ed's moral journeys, and his desires to cast blame on others, are not of interest.
We wish Phil the best.
sandrat needs to shut the hell up. Nobody is casting blame, especially ed hill. People here are just stating facts. I have the feeling sandrat would make excuses for anyone leading an unhealthy lifestyle, either drugs, alcohol, smoking or sedintary lifestyle.
Take care Phil. Wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery.
