'Deadliest Catch' Captain Suffers Stroke

Phil Harris, the Seattle-based captain of the 'Deadliest Catch' fishing vessel was flown to Anchorage after suffering a stroke while the boat was in port at St. Paul Island, Alaska.
According to the
Discovery Channel Web site, Capt. Harris underwent surgery over the weekend. His sons, Josh and Jake, joined him there. The Web site account says it may be some time before "anything substantial" is known about Harris' condition.
His sons, Josh and Jake Harris left a quick message on the network's Web site to "thank everyone for their heartfelt thought and prayers. 'The Deadliest Catch' community has always been more like family than just fans, and Discovery Channel joins the Harris boys in thanking everyone for their wishes of support. Captain Phil is resting comfortably and is in the care of excellent doctors and nurses. We will update everyone on his progress as best we can."
The Discovery Channel reality show depicts the crab fishing industry in the dangerous waters off Alaska.
The Web site reports a family friend, Derek Ray, has flown to St. Paul to take over the role of relief skipper for the rest of the opilio crab season.

Josh and Jake,
We're loyal fans of the Deadlest Catch. Extremely sorry to hear about your Dad. Our prayers are with you and your family for a quick and strong recocvery. Stay strong for your Dad and do your best with the business. I know it will make him proud.
We have personally experienced the trauma of dealing with conditions of the heart and truely believe the medical field has developed and is still learning a lot about healing the heart. Please stay positive as I'm sure your doctors are the best and doing everything possible to bring your Dad's life back to a level of quality living.
Take care.
