'Wonderland' Star Mia Wasikowska Makes Alice Her Own

Mia Wasikowska, recently named one of Vanity Fair's up and coming stars in young Hollywood, plays Alice in Tim Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland.' The 20-year-old actress talks to
Teen Vogue about playing the role and working with Burton.
"One of the things that was scary about taking on that role is the huge fan base; everybody has their own idea of who she is. So [Tim and I] discussed, very early on, just being happy with her being our Alice ... making her my own," she admits.
Wasikowska also opens up about becoming famous, whether the movie will connect with audiences and starting her acting career at age 14.
Fame: "I like my anonymity -- that when I meet people they don't know me. And workwise, I like getting jobs because I auditioned for them, because of my ability as opposed to my celebrity."
How 'Alice' will connect: "Alice is nineteen, and she returns to Wonderland with no recollection of having been there before. I really think it will be exciting, especially for girls my age because it explores that period of your life when you have these expectations upon you and you're finding that, amongst that, you have to try and hold on to yourself."
Starting her career at 14: "I thought, 'Oh, what's the point, I'm much too old to start acting. Everybody who is an actor has been acting since they were three.'"

This version of Alice will be terrible, just like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Burton has raped so many great characters and I'm furious about this. Alice returns to Wonderland without remembering she was ever there. Brilliant, Burton. Really.
Did this moron ever even read the book? His version of the Hatter is TERRIBLE. He and the March Hare really didn't want anything to do with Alice and didn't care in the slightest when she left their tea party.
