David Prowse, the British actor who physically played Darth Vader in the original three 'Star Wars' films, has announced he's made a full recovery from prostate cancer. The former bodybuilder told the Daily Mirror newspaper that after a year of intensive radiotherapy, his cancer is in remission. "I've won the fight and I'm feeling better than ever. Everyone was shocked by how well it all went," he told the tabloid on Tuesday.
He was diagnosed early, but only after a Prostate Cancer Support Association worker urged him to get tested.
The actor's brother also beat the disease, and he advises all men over 50 to get tested. His efforts are paying off, saying "I've had people saying I've saved their lives."

Cancer never had a chance against the powers of the dark side!

I so hope this is
true, but as someone who lost her husband to this monster (cancer) I do not believe anyone wins..maybe a couple of years but it will raise its ugly head again and again. But I hope he continues to win...

My husband is a 12 year prostate cancer survivor. He was 45 years old when he was diagnosed. It was scary for us. I had always thought of the type of cancer as an old man's disease (70 and older). He tells all the guys he knows to get tested. I hope that our son doesn't have to deal with this...... We are sorry for your loss.
Congratulations to David Prowse! Cancer is nothing to joke about, and he's very fortunate that he won the battle because most people just can't. I hope he continues to do well.

The ability for prostate cancer to kill is insignificant next to the power of the force. On a serious note I am so happy for him and hope other men get prostate checkups. As someone that has lost her grandfather to this disease. It is my hope that no man is lost to this cancer again!!!!

For those of you who didn't think he would make it, I find your lack of faith disturbing. But seriously, glad to hear he made it through all that. Awesome!

You don't want this prostate. It's not the prostate you are looking for.

Obi Wan once thought as David knew. He doesn't know that powers of Prostate Cancer. Never obey it's master, or suffer the same fate as he will. I hope his lightsaber and the dark side of the force will protect him.

I'm very happy for David Prowse, I met him at a sci-fi convention years ago at the meadowlands Hilton in NJ, he's a great guy, he even autographed a picture for me, glad the Force was with him on this mission!
You go Darth!

He was great as "Julian" in a Clockwork Orange.

I do wish him good luck, but my own father was told he was cured of the same cancer and yet he died four years later of prostate cancer that had migrated to his bones and brain. Let us know in ten years if he is cured or not. Again, I do wish him well.
