Leif Garrett Arrested Again, Spends 2 Nights in Jail

What's going on with former child stars these days? A week after Gary Coleman spent a long day in jail, fellow ex-child star Leif Garrett found himself locked up for two days this week on drug charges.
The singer-actor, who reached teen idol status in the 1970s, was arrested Monday morning at a downtown Los Angeles Metrolink station for possession of a controlled substance. According to a
TMZ report, police found black tar heroin in his shoe. He was booked but was unable to make bail until early Wednesday morning.
Garrett was released after posting $10,000 bail and is due back in court on Feb. 24.
Garrett's drug problem has dogged him for decades and he was actually arrested on the same subway line in 2006 for possession of heroin and Quaaludes. He was also arrested in 1999 and 2005, both times for drug possession.
He spent three months in jail in early 2006 for failing to complete a drug rehab program. Needless to say, this latest setback could lead to more jail time for the 'Runaround Sue' singer.
His peer, 'Diff'rent Strokes' star Coleman,
spent 27 hours behind bars in Utah in late January over an outstanding warrant. A fan of his work posted his $1,725 bail.

Because as young STARS...they were praised. Now they are just like one of us and can't take living a NORMAL life. Maybe parents need to rethink putting their children in the spot light so soon!

I couldnt agree with you more, stacey. Leif was such a cutie back then....and now, looking at this pic....it just makes me sick.
like lou reed wrote... heroin, its my wife and its my life,
I agree. They were stars at such a young age they never learned any of the coping skills the rest of us learned. They also usually don't know how to do anything else but be in show business so when that dries up for them, they're lost. If they would have saved a good part of the money they earned when they were stars, they all could have gone back to school and learned something so they could make a living in the "real world." It's so sad, really.
Ummmmm can any one say LOSER?

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder an most of all with in a person. So, knowing that GOD made all of us in his own image we know what you look like inside and out..OOOOhhhh but, while we are praying for this Child of God let's add you to the list for thinking and expressing such ugly thought..

I met Leif Garrett when I was 16. I was a movie extra in the film, "Thunder Alley." He was a jerk then, and it looks like he still is. He thought that he was a big star, when in reality, he was always alone and nobody hung out with him or even tried. It was a movie about rivaling rock bands. There was a local band called Surgical Steel and they were more fun than Leif Garrett. I remember that all of the girls were more interested in the band.
Well, that movie went straight to video, and his life went straight into the toilet. He was short and had this pompadour hairstyle that was indicative of the 80s. I remember that one of us asked him for a quarter to play a video game and he flipped out, saying that he wasn't made of money. We didn't need the quarter, we just wanted to see if it was true that he was stingy.

Wow, crazy. Hang on to insignificant issues much?
I understand the experience. My daughter once met a young teen actor named Brad Renfro. The guy was obnoxious, (and wasted), to she and her friends. He has since passed, I believe, of a heroin overdose. Contrast that with my daughter meeting all the kids in N-Sync.
Due to having a mother in the entertainment business, (radio), my daughter got a back stage hang-out with the N-Sync guys. This was heaven for she and a neighbor girl, both about 14. Those guys treated both the girls...like gold. Justin T. (being from The Memphis area), is immensely talented, and real. He has never forgotten his humble roots, and treats everyone well. Same with Lance, and the other guys. They were serious about their music, but never took themselves that seriously. What a different definition of successful people!
G_d bless you N-Sync guys. You helped make a lifetime memory for my daughter, and I love you for it.
LET IT GO!!!!!!
Wow, Lita, are you a friend of Leif's? I used to feel sorry for him; now, it seems he's reaping what he's sown.
Thanks Flattop. Lita, it's a memory. That is how I remember Leif Garrett. Who are you to say what is insignificant to a person and what is not.
Just out of curiousity I was wondering what movie your starring in now? Leif was'nt famous for his acting, he was a singer. And he was a good one, but was used by the industry and thrown away. I can only wish him the best.
Samantha: Thanks for sharing that story. What a cool memory to have!
I want you Samantha, I need you, I am in love.
