Mel Gibson Gets Angry, Calls Reporter An A**Hole

Even though it has been nearly four years since Mel Gibson's notorious anti-semitic tirade, he still isn't ready to talk about it just yet. While promoting his latest film 'Edge of Darkness,' Dean Richards, an entertainment reporter for Chicago's WGN-TV interviewed the actor but the exchange turned sour when Richards asked the following: "Do you think the public will perceive you any differently after all that's been in the news about you?"

Gibson responds defensively, "That's almost four years ago, dude ... I've done all the necessary mea culpas. Let's move on." Of course, the interview quickly wraps up -- but not before Gibson mutters, "bye bye, a**hole" under his breath. Watch:

In 2006, Gibson went on a rampage when he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, hurling religious slanders at police officers. The report says Gibson launched into a barrage of anti-Semitic statements: "F*****g Jews... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." Gibson then asked the deputy, "Are you a Jew?"

Anyone who knows Dean Richards knows that he is a gentleman and the furthest thing from an a-hole you'll ever see. He asked the question in a very respectable, non-accusatory fashion, and frankly, Mel should expect to be asked about his bad behaviour. His response was inapproprate, especially as it was directed at such a dignified, fair, gentleman as Dean Richards.

I have been a Mel Gibson fan since "Mad Max" and his independent productions have rubbed certain religions the wrong way. But what is in his heart is what matters, no matter his private life, he is still one sensational actor (Braveheart) and what's more important: He takes no **## from anyone. I though that Mel Handled himself well until he called the interviewer an A-hole. I understand it was a mistake. I understand it was 4 years ago. Still, he hasn't done anything carreerwise in the last 4 years, so I thought the questions were fair.

I understand Mel's point of view too. 4 years is a long time to be reminded of a mistake. You know, but that's show biz. He should try to appear a bit more repentant and a whole lot less pissed off all the time.
