Redmond O'Neal Out of Jail, Returns to Rehab

A judge in Los Angeles is sending Redmond O'Neal back to rehab after more than a month in jail. The son of Ryan O'Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett has been placed back on probation and sentenced to an intense residential rehab program during a brief hearing Thursday. The 25-year-old has been jailed since Dec. 29 for violating his probation on a previous drug conviction. "The plan for you is severe, and justifiably so," said Judge Michael Tynan at a hearing in Los Angeles today (via E! News.) "We all want you to do well but it's up to you."

The L.A. Superior Court Judge Michael Tynan says if O'Neal succeeds at the rehab program, he will then be sent to a sober-living facility.

He may eventually be granted passes to leave, but Tynan says the program will be "justifiably" severe.

O'Neal's attorney, Richard Pintal, says his client has made considerable progress while in jail and has earned another chance at rehab. O'Neal will be back in court on March 3 for a progress report.

Such a sad thing, but, hey, look at the enviroment he grew up in? One parent was wackier than the other and at least one of them was on drugs.

I hope Redmond will straighten him self up now. He was him mothers heart. Yes, his father is a total mess, but its no reason to throw this young man under a bus. Everyone has problems, this young man has been around his father, and brother, so the deck was staked against him in the first round. I hope he gets over the drug problem , and lives the life his mother would want for him. Redromd was born into this situation, it was not his own act, hes only doing what he has seen all his life.

Redmond is in bad shape for along time!! Farrah, his mother loved him dearly and always was there to help him. Redmond has a dad brother and sis with drug problems how sad!!! My heart goes out to Redmond, because he is still dealing with the love of his love his mother who loved him dearly. She always say he was her heart. Please God Bless Redmond because he is still missing his mother best friend!!! Who was taken to soon from him and her fans. God Bless the whole of ONeil family.

He looks like he is eat-up. Why burden a counselor that could be spending time with someone who wants to be clean and sober? Ryan is the biggest loser on the planet. His mental problems probably stem for prolonged drug use. Set them adrift on a leaky raft.

Yes - Redmond has been in trouble ever since he was a kid. I hope this time in prison has given him time to think about his future and making something of himself. Another parole violation will just put him back behind the eight ball. My concern is he'll spend his inheritence partying, and end up buried next to his dear mother.

People blame the parents all the time and that is bull! From what I understand Farrah was a great Mom..this child knows the difference between right and wrong..he has chosen this path and to blame the parents is a cop out. He already looks older than 25 from the drug use. The fact he has celebrity parents makes no difference..

A lifetime loser. He made his own (bad) choices and has no one to blame but himself...this is the road he chose for himself...sorry but I cannot feel sorry for him. I felt sorry for farrah, that she had to see him waste his life like this when he could have done anything, been anyone, with all the advantages he had at his disposal.I do not forsee a long life for Redmond...and I sure hope I am wrong...but I doubt it. You have to sincerely WANT the help in order for it to work. He wants the drugs more than he wants off of them. So sad.

Remember RobertDowney Jr? Years of drug abuse. Is finally stable, married, a father, working and really living his life. It can be done. May take 10 tries or more.
Look at Anthony Hargrove of the Saints who will be playing in the superbowl Sunday, because of Miami treatment centers help, it took 10 months, but he put his life back together. Hurray for them both and there is always hope for the others.

People, places and things. He can't get better if he keeps returning to the same environment. Way too much temptation. He needs to get a good sponsor - someone who goes to regular meetings with him and keeps him occupied. The hardest thing about sobering up and getting clean is learning how to leave the old life behind and start fresh. He doesn't stand a chance in Hollywood. This man needs a job - something that taps his own talents/skills. Keep busy and give something back. I'm not going to say he hasn't reached his bottom yet because we all know some folks never do - they just keep going until there's a 911 call that there's a dead body in the back room somewhere. Good luck Ryan, I'm rooting for you. You can do this.

Both, Farrah and Ryan were drug and alcohol users and that is exactly as it is/was. None of them cared about this kid . Farrah wasn't a great mother. She was a Hollywood sleep around, drug using and alcohol abusing weak woman who seemed to enjoy what she did . They all only cared about themselfs and she put Ryan above her Sons needs.However, this kid is just as weak as his mother who l think had little talent besides her looks. So little that she barely made the news the day she died cause someone else also died, someone that besides the troubles in his life, made a life for him and his kids and who had more talent than looks. You oldies out there, get out of the past and see Farrah for who she was...a useless Junkie.

It took me a long time to get sober. I have now been sober 13 years,5 months and 4 days. Thank God my people didn't give up on me! In fact I thank him everyday, esp. when I am with my 10 yr old grand daughter. Hang in there Redmond, don't listen to the nay sayers like your Dad. Find your higher power and then hang on, it's going to get rough. Make it through that and you'll be just fine...either that or you're going to see your Mom at lot sooner than she thought.
