Brittany Murphy's Cause of Death Determined

Brittany Murphy's death was accidental, the L.A. County Coroner determined,
TMZ reports.
According to the coroner's findings, the 32-year-old died of community acquired pneumonia, iron deficiency anemia and multiple drug intoxication -- which included prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
The report also indicated that her death was "preventable."
TMZ says that her pneumonia was "treatable," but she wasn't taken to the doctor in time.
"This death could've been preventable," Assistant Chief Ed Winter says,
PEOPLE reports.
"Murphy was planning on seeing a doctor, but she unfortunately passed away before she did. This was a case of a person with pneumonia who was anemic (having a low blood count) who was taking medication when she should've been getting medical treatment," Winter adds.
In a previous interview with PEOPLE, Brittany's husband Simon Monjack said, "I took very good care of my wife ... She was on an antibiotic and she was taking cough medicine and doing all the right things."
Winter reiterates that there were no illegal drugs found in her system. "It was only prescription and over-the-counter meds."
Furthermore, he reveals that Monjack was never a suspect. "He was never considered a suspect. No one's criminally liable here because this has been ruled an accident."
A full toxicology report is expected in two weeks.
Murphy was found dead in her bathroom by Monjack. Since her death, he and the 'Clueless' star's mother insisted that her death was not drug related, but rather caused by a heart condition.
They've also maintained that she did not suffer from an eating disorder.

IN OTHER WORDS OVERDOSE WHAT I THOUGHT

over dose and what looks like bulimia. that lack of iron I'm pretty sure is one the signs that some one is bulimic
Iron deficiency IS A SEVERE GENETIC IMMUNITY DISORDER WHICH CAN LEAD TO HEART DESEASE STROKE AND DEATH. It is only cured through blood transfusions.I have had several. It is an invisible killer that has only recently been easily diagnosed. Drugs mabe to control the pain in the body from lack of the cushioning red corposals.Let us not be so quick to judge.
you're an idiot. in other words, " what we know"
You all are very uneducated. It was a cross drug interaction with her undiagnosed blood disorder. You people really should read up on things before posting things that make you appear as you are: IGNORANT!!!!
No. Not an overdose it was strep pnemonia and conflict of medications not DRUGS. I include myself in this. My SISTER died of strep pnemonia that her boyfriend would not get her to the hospital for. You do not wish to know what my Family has done for this Country. You do not wish to know such pain of negligence. HOW DAMN DARE YOU.
I'm pretty sure it did not say she overdosed, as a matter of fact it said it was NOT drug related. And having low iron does not automatically mean someone has an eating disorder. There are plenty of otherwise perfectly healthy people who have low iron. Low iron could be genetic.
It was not an "overdose" but it was definitely a drug related death. She was taking pills that "included" legal drugs instead of seeking medical attention, so no doubt it was drug related. Why do we wag our fingers at illegal drugs and call them "drugs" but when someone abuses legal drugs everyone rises up and says that it wasn't "drugs?" That is total bull. Legal drugs are way worse that the illegal ones. Doctors are too quick to prescribe any pill that wikipedia says will treat a symptom. Doctors are handing out dangerous drugs like klonopin and gabapentin as if they are tic tacs. Get off the pills, people! I don't care if they are legal, nature didn't invent it, so you don't need it.
What? no word from Perez? wasn't he the one saying she died of a drug overdose??? yup like that cheerio would know wtf is going on with anything...
Did ya'll even read the article.....It does not say she died from an overdose..but rather the medicine she was taking did not help her illness. They found no illegal substances in her body . It did not say bullimia, it said anemia(a blood deficiency)(.....big difference .........Anemia is where you have a low iron count which could be caused by her being sick............. most likely she couldn't eat because she was sick .........Next time read the article before you voice a stupid opinion......oh and in case you missed this part to she died from pneumonia(an inflammatory lung disease)
I would like to know WHERE did you see the word " overdose"? Is it between the lines??? It is very clearly stated that she had pneumonia, and I can honestly say that a person can have pneumonia and not know it is pneumonia, it can present itself as a bad cold or the flu, which it IS flu season...
She had pneumonia, she was anemic and was taking antibiotics and a cough medicine.
It's posts like yours that ugly rumors get started.
To speak without thinking is like to shoot a gun without aiming.
youd think this type of medical info would be protected under privacy laws

Legally speaking, the dead have no such rights. A corpse is not considered "a person" and has no expectation to medical privacy rights. The corroner's report and death certificate are public information.
Legally speaking?? You have no clue....HIPPA extends beyond death! Her next of kin must have approved for this to have been released! Too funny to think your rights end when your life does. You are as uneducated as everyone else on this blog!!
Silent Hill...You are wrong...HIPAA *DOES* protect the dead person's privacy. Look it up.
HIPPA doesn't apply to Coroner report cause this conducted by Law Enforcement, which means the Coroner report, that is a public record, is not protected. Any of her medical records from her doctor's visits, etc, is protected by HIPPA. By the way I did look it up, I know it and work coroner calls.
R.I.P. Brittany Murphy ... another one gone too soon.
