Casey Johnson Died of Diabetes-Related Causes

Casey Johnson's death was caused by a lack of insulin and sky-high blood sugar related to the socialite's advanced diabetes, the Los Angeles County coroner announced Thursday.

The Johnson & Johnson heiress had a condition called diabetic ketoacidosis. The autopsy took place on Jan 5., a day after her body was found in her Los Angeles home.

The 30-year-old daughter of New York Jets owner Robert "Woody" Johnson lived a party life. In December, she announced her engagement to bisexual reality TV star Tila Tequila, who became increasingly outspoken following Johnson's death. Surprisingly, she has not commented on the coroner's report yet on her Twitter feed.

Johnson had been an insulin-dependent diabetic since childhood. A memorial fund in her name was set up with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Her father is chairman of that organization and co-author of the book "Managing Your Child's Diabetes."

Casey Johnson lived in a quiet neighborhood behind big wooden gates marked "Grumblenot," but she often partied with high school friend and fellow heiress Paris Hilton.

Johnson was charged last month with burglary and receiving stolen property for allegedly taking $22,000 in clothing, jewelry and other items from a friend's home. She pleaded not guilty and faced a February hearing.

She is survived by her parents, two younger sisters, and an adopted child she named Ava-Monroe, after her idol, Marilyn Monroe.

A message left for a family spokesman was not immediately returned.

Are you stupid or what? Can you read and understand? She killed herself by not taking care of her condition by using the necessary drug that would have kept her alive. Learn about insulin dependent diabetes and wise up. Incidentally, hope that you are not type 2..as you could be in big trouble yourself. Better get a check up and blood work done,.

It's too bad that her father did not have more control over her so he could use his expertise to keep her well.

The offical report is diabetes, but its her lifestyle that actually killed her. She wasn't taking care of herself and she risked her life by not controlling her diabetes. Such a sad tragic story.

And could the honcho's that run Hollywood please do the world a favor and get rid of Tila Tequila. She is evil, she has this black aura around her and chaos is always a part of it. Anyone who gets involved with her seems to have something bad happen to them by just knowing her.

Does anyone not realize what diabetic ketoacidosis is? As a diabetic since childhood, she should have realized that she needed her insulin. It is not a thing that suddenly hits you. diabetic Ketoacidosis takes a little bit of time wiht no insulin in the body to break down and process the sugars. If she started feeling bad (headache, nausea, fatigue, dry mouth) she should have checked her blood sugar levels and then administered her insulin and she would still be alive. Anyone who has had diabetes (and the education on it) as long as she has would have been warned of what could happen and the side effects. Im not saying she was too drunk or high to realize, but it is a possibility. and no, the drugs and alcohol do not help. In fact, when someone is going into diabetic ketoacidosis it often looks like they are drunk and they smell like alcohol. Just a paramedics point of view....

She could have NOT wanted to take her insulin to keep her weight down..... This is an epidemic with young people who have diabetes. It's called Dio Balemic... Not sure of the spelling.

Diabetic's that don't want to gain weight will eat anything and and as much as they want without the fear of gaining weight. That is, IF THEY DON'T TAKE THEIR INSULIN... When they take their insulin they put on weight fast!!!!!!!

Her super rich parents cut her off from her trust fund, and it was rumored that she did NOT have any money to pay for rent, electric, water or gas money for her car. I guess there was NO money for food or her medicine.
A dog, or a cat, should NOT be treated like that, never mind one's own child.. I understand cutting off her money so she could NOT buy drugs but to just cut her off and NOT worry about her basic needs was down right mean.

As a type 2 Diabetic, I know what I can and can't eat and drink if I want to be healthy. As an insulin dependent diabetic, she had to have known better but did not give a damn, not even about her child. In short, she KILLED HERSELF in my book.

Sadly you are right. Legally she was an adult and there for only she was responsible for her health and life. Waiting to hear from the so called lover now about this report.
