Joe Simpson Teams Up With Nickelodeon

Hollywood dad Joe Simpson has spent the last decade or more building his daughters into a media brand. Now he's back with an all-new product to push: himself.
According to
the Hollywood Reporter, Simpson, the father and manager of
Jessica and
Ashlee Simpson, has struck a deal with Nickelodeon to produce a sitcom based on his own experiences raising those daughters. The untitled project, which according to the article "centers on one of the daughters who begins imitating her father and giving life advice to other kids in her school," will focus on Simpson's pre-Hollywood career as a psychologist rather than his efforts to promote his clan.
Those efforts, of course, have been spectacularly effective, particularly on television, where daughter Jessica's MTV reality show
'Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica' turned their name into a household one. That series coincided with Ashlee's rise on
'7th Heaven' and her own reality series,
'The Ashlee Simpson Show,' which allowed both sisters to capitalize on their new-found celebrity by releasing accompanying albums.
While it seems unlikely that Joe will follow in that same arc and release an album of his own, his track record does suggest the marriage with Nickelodeon could be a fruitful one; in addition to managing his daughters through their high-profile television careers, he's produced shows such as ABC's
'Women's Murder Club.' And he will be teaming with Nickelodeon veteran Tommy Lynch, who has helmed a number of successful shows for the network, including
'The Troop' and
'South of Nowhere.'
Indeed, the only loser in this deal may be Nickelodeon superstar
SpongeBob SquarePants. After all, given the Simpson family's sketchy understanding of seafood, it's possible that SpongeBob may become the latest "Chicken-of-the-Sea" substitute. And we'd hate to see the little guy end up on papa Joe's plate. After all, we think he has enough problems with the paparazzi without adding spongicide to the mix.

I would be more interested if is more talented brother "Homer" was involved.

What??? He was a youth pastor!! NOT a psychologist!!! Not even a main pastor, but a youth pastor, nothing more... He's a youth pastor-turned pimp... And now, apparently a liar, too, if he's trying to pass himself off as a psychologist, past or present!!
Exactly! LOL
I would be more interested in the show if his talented brother "Homer" was involved.

A psychologist? Really? I have been trying to find exactly where this preacher/psychologist got his credentials. Somebody please tell me where the Rev. Joe Simpson went to school? What degree does he hold? Supposedly, he was a "pastor" who saw that his daughter, Jessica, was too sexy for gospel singing. So he took charge of her career (Ashlee's, too). Nice dad! How do you sleep at night, Rev. Simpson? How's that "gaining the whole world..." doing for ya!

And yet, so many truly TALENTED people in Hollywood remain unemployed!

Why is he quilified to give advice, when his older daughter bought the bs of marrying virgin, so after Nick banged her a few times, they split. Obviously waiting was a mistake, she was like a little girl playing house, and Nick was more like a parent raising a little girl. Ashley got knocked up and married a man who likes to make out with guys, as he admitted himself during an interview.
Joe S. is not the one to tell other parents how to raise kids, he didn't do a good job. Doing everything for your kids is not teaching them anything.
