Brangelina Suing Tabloid Over Split Reports

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are still together -- and they've now taken legal action against the British tabloid that claimed otherwise.

The A-list couple is suing News of the World over its report that the stars were broken up and dividing their fortune.

"The News of the World has failed to meet our clients' reasonable demands for a retraction of and apology for these false and intrusive allegations, which have now been widely republished by mainstream news outlets. We have advised them to bring proceedings, which they have now done," Brangelina's London attorney Keith Schilling says, The Guardian reports.

Several weeks ago, News of the World claimed Brad and Angelina had met with a lawyer in December to discuss the division of their combined millions and custody of their six children -- Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

"However, in this case we can confirm unequivocally, and upon instructions, that the allegations published by the News of the World are false as well as intrusive," their lawyer adds.

Although the pair hadn't been seen together much in recent months, since the News of the World story broke, they've been spotted at the Director's Guild Awards as well as this weekend's Super Bowl in Miami.

I think the tabs should get sued... they dont care what harm it could do to their family and seriously, you guys are honestly talking about names!!! How about those other celebrities who named their kids Audio Science and Pilot Inspektor (thats the way they spelled it too)to name a few!

I'm glad they are suing. I disagree that it is a publicity ploy. They were getting plenty of exposure with the story. It sickens me to stand in the grocery line with all the sensational "headlines" blaring in my face. Lying is lying whether by the spoken word or in print. Every corporation or person should be accountable for truth's sake.

How typical. The minute there is the slightest breath of negative publicity on these two (i.e., the truth!) they close ranks, pose for scads of smiling, adoring pictures together and with their kids, and make sure their mugs are photographed "doing good works" here and there about the world. What a sham! They're revolting.

I agree they are stars and know rumors will circulate. They do not have to sue they have enough money . Oh yeah if they win they will donate it to a charity how touching.

I did not believe the media when the story broke about the split. I assumed it was just hype to sell newspapers. Brad must be a super special guy for Angelina to stay with him wearing that totally ridiculous and ugly "goat beard".
