'Bachelor' contestant Ali Fedotowski was forced to choose between her job, reportedly at Facebook, and staying on the show to win Jake Pavelka's love.
After a heart-to-heart with Jake, during which he wouldn't promise her she'd be the one to receive the final rose, Ali ultimately decided to choose her job and leave the competition, sending shock waves through the audience.
The face-to-face between Jake and Ali was pure reality show gold, complete with crying and ultimatums.
"I have like the most impossible decision to make right now," she told Pavelka at first. "I just found out that I have to choose between staying here and going back to work."
"I can't believe that I have to make this decision, I haven't made up my mind. The reason I'm here, coming to you right now, is because I wanted to let you know, and I'll need you to help me," Ali pleaded.
"So what are you asking?" Jake responded. "We have something really special."
"I can't right now guarantee you that I'm going to put a ring on your finger, but I can't look you in the eye and tell you that I'm not going to," he added.
But we wonder -- if she signed up for 'The Bachelor,' she presumably had to tell her employer. They knew what she was getting into. Why would they pull her off the show six weeks into it?
The host of the show, Chris Harrison, also sat down with Pavelka to discuss the situation before the rose ceremony.
Harrison emphasized what it would mean if Ali chose Jake over her job, and he was a little overzealous and serious for our liking.
"Let's say she does decided to stay, which means she's quitting her job for you. What does it mean to you, but, also, what kind of pressure does that now put on the two of you?" Harrison asked Pavelka. "Down the road, could you look her in the eye and say, 'You know what? Thanks for quitting your job, but you're not the one.' Think of that situation."
Furthermore, during the rose ceremony where Ali has to make her final decision, it looked like she mouths "now" before asking to talk to Harrison, as if waiting for her cue from the producers.
Then, another talk with Jake occurred, with more made-for-reality-television sobbing.
In the previews for next week, it appears as if Ali wants back on the show. Which leads us to believe this "I have to choose my job or you" obstacle was created.
In his blog about the episode for EW.com, Harrison writes, "Nobody really knew how to act or what to do in that moment, but I like it when it's raw and awkward like that. Life isn't always a pretty, polished Hollywood scene is it?"
Oh, Chris, we beg to differ. It sounds like you're protesting too much.
Pavelka's words for his PEOPLE blog also strike a wrong chord. "When she told me she was leaving, my heart stopped. I wish I could've had Mike Tyson punch me square in the jaw, because it would have felt so much better than what I feeling as I watched AliCat drive away that night."
Once he's finished lamenting about Ali's departure, though, he ends on a much happier note: "What could I do? I had to regain my composure and focus on the amazing women I had left; three women that I have fallen in love with. Leaving the country felt like a clean slate. Next week we are in Saint Lucia! EVERYTHING changes. This is where the real emotions start to run wild. Relationships are solidified and become unstoppable."
Amen! I can't believe anyone believes any of this crap, Thats why i don't watch it. Do you really think anyone goes on a tv show to find true love or there "soulmate"... and none of you would have a problem with your mate to be dating numerous women, or being a "player". GET REAL because these shows or not, Oh yeah theirs no Santa either.
Its just like last season, the guy left for his job and returned to win the girl! Shes hopping to do the same as the past 2 seasons shows and have the camera on her. I have only watched maybe 2 episodes this season seems I havent missed much!
I never liked Ali she was trying to get everyone to hate Vienna and now this move ??? I am glad she is gone .. Besides who would choose there job over TRUE LOVE ???? lol
I'm glad Ali is gone......the cause of all the DRAMA to begin with! And how does she know where to find him (in the next episode)? It appeared the other 3 didn't know they were going to St. Lucia until the very end!!! Too familiar, too FAKE.....too much! Get a grip ABC and make a REAL reality show!
So does anyone see the resemblance of Vienna and Melrose from America's next top model??? These are all actresses. And Ali is not gone he gets a call from her in San Lucis. FAKE
True...and I thought that once they leave the show they are not to have any contact with the bachelor and vise versa. So how else would she have known which hotel he was at if the producers didn't tell her.
If he picks that trashy girl Vienna, I will not be watching the show next season! My God, I gave him more credit than that! She's so fake you can tell, just watch her face, it's all for the cameras. Pick Gia or Tenley. They are more genuine!
They are ALL a bunch of loosers! The three that are left have too much drama with them... they all seem to be insecure. I still don't know how the producers of this show selected these ladies. I wasn't impressed from the very beginning when he met all of them. Jake is definitely the BEST bachelor so far. He needs to start over.
You can't trust anyone with narrow set eyes! There are obvious vision disturbances that run in the family after seeing that scary dad of Vienna's on the screen. Were those coke bottles?
After the 2/8/2010 show, I am DONE with this fake show. I am incensed that these people actually think people are so stupid as to believe all this fake crap. I'm Done
SOOOOOOOOOO SICK OF ALI's DRAMA!! Don't tell me that ABC expects us to fall for this ploy and that it will make things more exciting. It's more nauseating than anything :( !!
Harrison has no respect for his viewers to allow this fake crap to continue. I only started watching this show 3 weeks ago, and won't ever watch it again after that stupid fiasco. People, have a barf bag handy.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

I totally agree! Do you ever get the idea that Vienna is a guy in drag? She is way too manly for Jake or anyone. Why is Jake keeping her around??
I believe that she didn't really loved him at all. Let her be gone. What a waste of time for Jake. Too bad.
