Andrew Garcia, a father hoping to make a better life for his child, took the stage on the first night of the infamous Hollywood Week on 'American Idol' and sang a rendition of 'Straight Up.'It was a risky choice, considering Paula Abdul, who made the tune famous, had left the show. But Garcia, with guitar in hand, nailed his toned-down version.
"That was genius," Kara DioGuardi told Garcia. "Paula would be screaming and yelling," she added. Watch It

I don't know why so many people miss Paula. The show isn't about judges but the contestants. Its not call American Judge.

Paula Abdul is HOT. on or off american idol it really doesn't matter. straight up made her hot. Garcia couldn't have played it smarter-take a sexy song by a sexy lady and do it again with a man kind of spin on it. why do you think it was a risky choice? it was BRILLIANT. well played, andy, well played

People miss Paula because she was the heartbeat of the judges panel. yes i know the show is about the SINGERS, but there would be no winner without the JUDGES. the way fox television treated her was wrong on so many levels and she left to keep her dignity rather than settle for the ridiculous scraps they were throwing at her.
ok i've said my piece. now about andrew garcia...LOVE HIM!
