'Biggest Loser' Jillian Michaels' Diet Supplement Lawsuit

Jillian Michaels helps contestants lose weight the old fashioned way on 'The Biggest Loser,' but her new diet supplement has been labeled "worthless" in a class action lawsuit, according to
TMZ.
"Telling people you take two magic pills and then eat chocolate cake all day is a deception," said the lawyer who filed the suit against Michaels. She is being sued for false advertising by a woman who bought the diet supplement, Jillian Michaels' Maximum Strength Calorie Control.
"Sadly, Michaels has decided to exploit her fame and goodwill by collaborating with Thin Care and Basic Research to promote a weight loss supplement that purportedly will cause weight loss by itself, without any additional effort on the part of the consumer," the lawsuit alleges.
They are seeking to prohibit the sale of the product, as well as damages, which adds up to more than $5 million dollars. The advertisements proclaim, "Two Capsules Before Main Meals and You Lose Weight...That's It."

How can a person sue for something that state's on the bottle that it does not work for everyone and that satisfaction is guaranteed or your money back within a 60 day time frame. Kind of hard to sue when it state's on the label it's not for everyone. Stop being money hungry people.

they are suing for false advertising. but i guess in your mind its ok for yet another business to rob its customers blind by making false claims. this is a class action law suit and they want this product off the market.
There isnt a diet program around that states you can take two pills and eat like a pig, and still lose weight. There is no grounds for a suit here--if you are so stupid to think you can eat chocolate cake all day and lose weight, then you deserve to have your money taken from you.
Yes any one thinking that you can lose weight bye taking a pill, and eating anything and not excercise is jsut foolish, and if it, states on the bottle certain conditions then the people taking them need to have their money stolen from them. Any one who thinks that a pill alone can make them lsoe weight then they deserve what they get that is all that I have to say about it.
No one ever went broke preying on the insecurity of others.
Kinda hard to sue...LOL..Well they are doing it & will continiue to do so. By saying it will not work for all is nothing but trying to avoid accountability. Her pill will not work on anyone...ANYONE! Ask any model the secret to losing weight is avoid CARBS. Carb's are like gasoline for your body cut the supply (carbs) off and the body turns on itself and eat's the fat..model's have know this for over 30 years. NO CARB'S...LOSE WEIGHT..IT'S THAT SIMPLE!
Actually, MR.RICK, everybody out there says you can just eat what you want and still lose weight with their product. It's because that's what people want to hear, they don't want to hear that they would have to change their whole lifestyle and excercise. People buy it because they are hearing what they want to hear, even if they damn well know better. Surprise, it takes work and restraint to lose weight, duh, how did you get where you are in the first place, right?
you are so right abt not every diet is right for everyone, I tried them all (almost) what work for others did not work for me. She is a cry baby and only wants money.
This is somebody who trains and assists people who are obese to lose large amounts of weight. Anyone who has seen the show and who has witnessed the workouts and diets these people do, and with an ounce of sense would know you don't just pop a pill. You change your diet and workout. If they read the bottle they will probably see that it says it helps you by blocking fat or some of what the body absorbs.
This is ridiculous to think people can sue because they are overweight and dont want to do the work. Heres an idea, dont take the pill, enroll for the show. Bet you'll see results then

Ya, as long as you have a TV show where you do the exact opposite of what you say when you are hawking some ridiculous diet pills, you should be immune to prosecution. Actually, she has helped so many overweight people on her TV show she should be immune from prosecution.
I never heard that all you needed to do was take two pills and then eat away. Hummmm wonder if it's the same product I seen on TV cause I never heard it was a wonder pill.. Going to check it out real good this time will read the fine print too Okay! BBL.. lol

Please, talk about panty wastes. Theres no doubt this product is more worthless then the person selling it. But then so are the idiots who bought it and thought they'd lose weight sitting on their butts and craming junk food in their pie hole. I want to sue for gross stupidness and idiotacy. Any lawyers want to take my case ???

The people that buy this crap, and believe that it works, should have no right to sue. Seriously, we need a stupid clause in the law.

You're absolutely right, BadWolf. No one has the right to sue because this pill didn't work for them. There's a sucker born every second (something like that).
But that's not to say how disappointing it is that Jillian Michaels would stoop so low as this money-making scheme. Isn't she making enough money already?
Actually Sue, anybody has a right to sue anybody they want over anything they want, but that doesnt mean it will get them anywhere in the courts.
I think it would be more interesting to see if this pill did anything at all. Perhaps thats where the investigation should begin. Obviously a healthy diet and exercise would cause weight loss in the average person without the help of the pill. So what is the pill doing I wonder? I think thats the question at hand. It wouldn't be the first diet placebo pill someone hyped and it wont be the last. Hopefully this one doesnt cause tumors and heart problems like previous wonder pills.
It says right on the label "Use in conjunction with any sensible diet and exercise program." Keywords here? Sensible diet and exercise? Case closed.
