Alec Baldwin Briefly Hospitalized Over Daughter's Concerns -- Report

'30 Rock' actor Alec Baldwin was rushed to a New York City hospital overnight after his daughter thought he was being unresponsive, according to various reports. A law enforcement official told the Associated Press that Baldwin and 14-year-old Ireland had been arguing, and she told 911 that he had threatened to take pills. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity.

According to various accounts, when police and medics arrived at his apartment, Baldwin was awake and agreed to be taken to the hospital for examination. He was driven to Lennox Hill Hospital, where he was treated and released an hour later.

Baldwin's publicist issued a statement calling the whole thing "a misunderstanding on one person's part." The statement said Baldwin is "completely fine and will be at work" on Thursday.

The Emmy-winning actor has no known history of illness. Baldwin's relationship with daughter Ireland was the source of a 2008 scandal involving phone messages in which he berated her as a "pig."

Thanks for the feedback. Alec is a typical representation of what so many fathers experience. At least he brings to the public forum the frustration many fathers go through when they undergo this involuntary 'parentectomy'.

Ireland is not a nut case. Alec has aluded in the past that he has suicidal intentions when his divorce got rough. Poor guy because he needs to have to be the center of attention. I hope he can get help from a more qualified professional. I feel bad for the daughter having been exposed to this.

I cannot believe how you all assume you "know" any party in this case. Having worked with Mr. Baldwin personally, he is a big- hearted person who is generous on many occasions. He also is tumultuous and troubled on other levels. To take sides for anyone here is to exude childish naivete. No parent is being responsible in playing mind games of the sort that occur in this relationship. No family deserves this sort of trouble and unhappiness and throwing around angry accusations and it certainly doesn't help a teenager to grow into a healthy adult. I would guess that Ireland was being very responsible and loving in calling 911 in fearing for the father that she inherently loves and wants to have in her life. If you can't say anything nice then at least say something INFORMED.

I can't believe all the judgemental people on this blog. You all seem to be close friends of Mr. Baldwin and just know he's an alcoholic, pill taker, pig, crappy role model, useless human being, on ad naseaum. Must make you feel very superior putting him (and other celebrities) down and feeling like you know exactly what kind of person he is. Guess you don't really need to know him - you, like the media, can just make up crap about him and pass judgement. Feel better now?

Teenagers are great at fabricating stories, especially 14 year old ones. They are constantly testing their power over their parents. His "little darling" has been testing him for quite some time. It doesn't surprise me. If he was having health issues they were no doubt set off by their argument. Stress will kill you, and teens know how to push all the right buttons. Insanity is hereditary and Bassinger has a lot of issues that she either passed down to her daughter or the daughter has gained through living with her. I feel sorry for the girl because she is caught in between and is being raised and influenced by her cuckoo mother. Alec, you better stop allowing your daughter to affect you like that or it will kill you. Plus, you are allowing her to have the power when she affects you, your health, and keeps managing to get your name sullied in the press.

He is discusting and I would hope that this incident will force the Judge to cease all parental and visitation rights .Why would he even subject her to that .If he wants to live that way he should be alone .
