The Lady Gaga and Alexander McQueen Connection

There's no question that Lady Gaga was a muse for fashion designer Alexander McQueen. His eccentric style meshed well with Gaga's fearless fashion sense. The pop singer even paid homage to the fashion icon in her catchy 'Bad Romance' video last year -- strutting around in a pair of McQueen's infamous lobster claw heels and runway designs. But with McQueen's recent death, will it change the face and allure of Gaga's outrageous fashion?

Lady Gaga officially unveiled her 'Bad Romance' single at Alexander McQueen's Spring/Summer 2010 runway show during Paris Fashion Week. Although Gaga wasn't in attendance, her presence was certainly felt as her hit song streamed over the speakers during the encore of all the looks that McQueen had showed off. The show generated so much interest that it crashed ShowStudio's servers.

Following the fashion show, the duo teamed up and debuted a lot of his runway looks in her 'Bad Romance' music video. Wearing McQueen from head to toe, Gaga brought high fashion to an industry run by pop princesses. Everything from her opening number gold jacket and razor glasses to the 10-inch skeleton inspired pumps and the now-famous Armadillo heels were all McQueen originals.

The 'Pokerface' singer has been nothing short of a walking McQueen ad, showing up to events and concerts dressed in his one-of-a-kind designs. In September, she accepted the award for Best New Artist during the 2009 MTV VMAs dressed in a red lace see-through outfit designed by McQueen.

In recent months, McQueen's publicist even called Gaga "an unofficial muse." That's quite a compliment in the fashion world. And although McQueen's designs were out-of-the-box, Gaga rocked every eccentric look with confidence and style.

I love that she has actually written songs that haven't been regurgitated over and over by so many pop icons. We have someone who has gone out of the metaphorical box, and I am loving it.
I love something new...and you all have to admit...you can't get those tunes out of your head no matter how much you say you hate them. :)

I have to agree with you. I love her and her intensity, but this video raises my blood pressure too much. It's like an assault upon the viewer. Gwen Stefani's videos had the same effect on me.

It is art. It symbolizes blood and the death of celebrities at the hands of fame, particularly Princess Diana (hence the crown). And lots of art is disgusting or ugly. But I personally don't think it is. I like that dress. It's strange.

I'm sure McQueen's family is worried about Gaga not getting her horrible wardrobe. The guy DIED!!! and we're more worried about her clothes. REALLY??

One point of advice for a very young pop icon...

When building your Tower make sure to remember that your fans and the public are the bricks that build that tower. Just one brick, pulled out at the wrong place, can be the one that tears your tower down.

I love your confidence. I love the songs you write. I want to see next your raw talent...without your fashion style over-riding your songs.
