Alec Baldwin Gets Grabby With 'Scum' Photog

After a stressful day filled with phone-fights with his daughter, a brief hospital visit and '30 Rock' shoots, Alec Baldwin lost his composure Thursday in a confrontation with a photographer camped outside his home. The Emmy winner angrily grabbed New York Post snapper Tim Wiencis by the collar after spotting him outside his New York City apartment, yelling "this guy! this guy!" as he rushed him, the New York Daily News reports.

An INF staffer was there to photograph the event, which clearly shows an angry Baldwin going after Wiencis. Police were summoned, but no charges were filed. Witnesses told the News that Baldwin was heard muttering "They are the lowest scum of the Earth" repeatedly inside his building's lobby.

Oddly, the Post has not reported on the confrontation between the actor and their employee.

The outburst capped a rough day for Baldwin, who earlier was taken to the hospital after his 14-year-old daughter, Ireland, called 911 saying Alec had threatened to "take some pills" and "end this," an official told the AP.

Ireland, who was in Los Angeles, called for help after failing to get a hold of Baldwin on the phone. Medics arrived and Baldwin agreed to go to the hospital for evaluation. He was released from the hospital in an hour and took no alcohol or pills, spokesman Matthew Hiltzik said.

"This was a misunderstanding on one person's part," Hiltzik said earlier Thursday, presumably alluding to Ireland's 911 call. "Alec was quickly released from the hospital; he's completely fine and will be at work today."

"If there was a real problem or concern, he wouldn't have been released from a hospital within an hour," Hiltzik said later Thursday.

No, it clearly shows Wiencis holding Baldwin's arm and Baldwin (almost nonchalantly) looking at the other cameraman. Only one that looks "angry" is Wiencis.

What pic are you looking at? The cameraman does not have a grip on Baldwin's arm so he hardly is controlling it, (it appears he is pushing Baldwin's arm away). The cameraman is surprised looking and does not have his camera to his face which is what a photographer does to get pics. Baldwin does look angry to me. Care to look again idiot?

Is that really what you see in the photo? Seriously?

It seems to me that Baldwin is an emotional manipulative turd. Why would you give your young daughter reason to believe you're going to 'end it all' while speaking to her over the phone when she's thousands of miles away. What kind of parent would do that to their child? What kind of parent would leave disparaging voice mail messages on their child's phone attempting to bully them into doing what they want them to do? Baldwin is a piece of work. No wonder Kim divorced him. I sure wouldn't want my child growing up thinking this is normal behavior.

I would be angry too if some jerk was shoving a 12 inch telescopic lens in my face and taunting me with stupid remarks. IMO, the daughter reported hearsay. No doubt she was fabricating drama which is what many teens do to gain power and control over their parents. Obviously she has her mother manipulated and has learned well from her. I'm glad Alec is not such a pushover. The hospital reports he had taken NO alcohol or drugs, and I am CERTAIN Mr Baldwin went to the hospital for that reason...to prove a point. His daughter was fabricating a lie against him, and he, (unfortunately), was trying to show the truth. The media has stretched this entire situation out of bounds. At first they tried to present it like his daughter was there with him and he was unresponsive, when in reality, she was not even there and supposedly couldn't contact him by phone. Maybe he didn't want to talk to her or was on the crapper. In any case, this drama scenario is typical teenage fare and not even worthy of print or speculation.

At 14, Ireland is old enough to inflict her own emotional abuse, which she probably learned well from BOTH parents. The article states there were 'phone fights.' Any parent who has dealt with a teenager well knows they can be a handful and argumentative, especially over the phone. From what we know of Alec and his past behavior, he doesn't have the personality or patience to let it slide, and probably overreacted to the situation. I say lay the blame on both of them. As for the photographer - think about what Alex said - clearly there was bad blood to begin with. Sounds like this photog made trouble in the past.

I know Alec, I pray for Alec. To be so blessed in his life, and continually screw it up is very sad to watch. They don't keep giving him chances because he's pretty! He has great talent, but he also has great talent for self destruction! If he would just lose some of that arrogance he'd be just fine.

What does Obama have to do with it? Jesus, what is wrong with you people anyway? I don't care for Obama, but seriously you're an idiot if you're going to try to link Obama to this news story. On point, I would say perhaps the whole family, including the kid who is probably spoiled rotten, are likely pretty screwed up. That's what fame and fortune usually net. I wouldn't be surprised to find out the daughter is doing some of her own manipulating. Just another screwed up family of Hollyweird.

Why do we all make up our own stories to what we hear? How do we know that he said "I should take some pills and end all this?" His kid may have said that to get him in some trouble. Maybe he wanted her to call for the publicity. For every thing we hear only part of we can make assumptions to fill in the blanks. I say we let people have a private life, and their the public life should be seperated. If a Photog was camping on my front door I'd probably find ways to make his life miserable.

if given a preview, i don't watch anything in the media or video with alec baldwin. this guy is a street thug wanna-be who when he does not get his way - will resort to baby tantrums to both get what he wants and draw attention to himself. the media outlets seem to dismiss this behavior - because they know they can count on him "making the news again -with his borderline behavior and antics". in a nutshell, he's an idiot with fans.

Leave the guy alone. Paparazzi are relentless in their obnoxious pursuit to photograph every nuance of famous people's lives from dawn to dusk. Being famous does not necessitate selling your soul to these idiots. Baldwin has done a lot of good work for charities, and is a parent just trying to navigate the waters of bringing up a teenage daughter. Stop criticizing and politicizing the man's personal life unless you've walked in his shoes.

I must say, how very wise you are. To their shame, Americans are turning into back fence gossips both personally and politically. Any lie, verbal mistep, personal mistake or misjudgement is now front page Fox news. I say to those people, get a life, get a job, have some pity (nobody's perfect except them) and get off the internet if you have nothing of importance to say.
