Kevin Smith Kicked Off Southwest Flight for Being Too Fat

Kevin Smith is not a happy Southwest customer.
The director was thrown off a flight from Oakland to Burbank, after being deemed too fat to fly. He would later end up on another Southwest flight and now he's expressing his anger on Twitter.
"Dear @SouthwestAir - I know I'm fat, but was Captain Leysath really justified in throwing me off a flight for which I was already seated?" her began.
"Dear @SouthwestAir, I flew out in one seat, but right after issuing me a standby ticket, Oakland Southwest attendant Suzanne (wouldn't give last name) told me Captain Leysath deemed me a "safety risk". Again: I'm way fat... But I'm not THERE just yet. But if I am, why wait til my bag is up, and I'm seated WITH ARM RESTS DOWN. In front of a packed plane with a bunch of folks who'd already I.d.ed me as 'Silent Bob,'" Smith
continued in a succession of
several tweets.
Smith even
posted a photo of himself on the plane.
Then he
got a
little angrier. "So, @SouthwestAir, go f--- yourself. I broke no regulation, offered no "safety risk" (what, was I gonna roll on a fellow passenger?). I was wrongly ejected from the flight (even Suzanne eventually agreed). And f--- your apologetic $100 voucher, @SouthwestAir. Thank God I don't embarrass easily (bless you, JERSEY GIRL training). But I don't sulk off either: so everyday, some new f----you Tweets for @SouthwestAir."
Southwest issued a response on
Twitter. "I've read the tweets all night from @thatkevinsmith - He'll be getting a call at home from our Customer Relations VP tonight."
"@ThatKevinSmith Again, I'm very sorry for the experience you had tonight. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do," the Southwest twitterer
added.
But Smith didn't
stop. "The @SouthwestAir Diet. How it works: you're publicly shamed into a slimmer figure. Crying the weight right off has never been easier!"
And he wanted to let the airline know he had made it to his
destination. "Hey @SouthwestAir! I've landed in Burbank. Don't worry: wall of the plane was opened & I was airlifted out while Richard Simmons supervised."

Hey Sonny, By who's standard are you using when you say we should look like "normal", I suppose it is your skinny uneducated dumb ass opinion on what the world should be like. Also, Sonny why do you feel the need to be redundant, Obese and Fat, is there a difference? Sonny, you most have serious issues, I think you need some professional help for your obvious inability to accept people for who they are how you thunk they should look. Go choke on a carrot stick you idiot.

I love Southwest...they hate Fat people

Once it was acceptable to defile smokers in public it became okay to attack everyone else.

Airlines should have a weight limit. People with their luggage should be required to weigh in at check in. (similar to a truck weigh station)
It's all about the fuel......let alone some big blubber but sitting next to you.

So what your saying is that no one over 250 lbs. is allowed to fly? Let's say an NFL linebacker and myself were boarding a plane. The athletic linebacker is over 6' tall and weighs a solid 240 lbs. I, on the other hand, am fat, only 5'8" and weigh the same 240 pounds. See my point?
If your gonna start kicking heavy people off of airplanes, you better place weight scales at the boarding gate so all heavy people are denied. Not just the fat ones.

First of all, weight and balance are serious issues on airplanes.
An out of weight and balance airplane is dangerous. An overweight airplane
is dangerous.
It might have been as simple as this. The plane was at max fuel and max weight, and the pilot said we are to heavy. The plane has to loose weight
before I can leagally fly.
You can either take off luggage, or take off a person and their luggage.
That might have been 500 pounds and that is a lot of weight.
A suggestion, when you book a flight, always book your seat over the wings. Weight and balance issues might be less of an issue.

Its too bad they treat any person that way. At least he wasn't kicked off the plane for having too short of skirt on! He shouldn't feel bad, the pilot was probably drunk any way!!

Reading the article it doesn't state anywhere that he was offered the option of paying for a 2nd seat. He was simply thrown off, period.

Incorrect. He had purchased 2 seats on another flight, but changed his mind and decided to try to fit his fat butt in a single seat. He knew he needed 2 seats, but decided to raise a stink. Looking for attention probably. At any rate .. his mouth was about as big as his ass and should have been shut down.
He didn't even deserve an apology, although, Southwestern was gracious enough to offer one. Their best bet is to put him on a life time ban, until he loses the fat and the attitude.
those seat are alrady too effn small!!!Pack full for the sheer greed of max profit, oakland to burbank is always full on peek times,a later flight ,not soo full, and he would have no problem. As for the pilot to make that call is wrong, should be in the terminal to make that call..Pilot got what he wanted, the guy who thru kevin smith off a plane....BALLLICKERS AT SOUTHWEST..

How could he be considered too fat if both armrests were down? I've been wedged in between passsengers who are a lot bigger and we had to keep the armrests up. Something's missing from this story.

i wonder if he smelled as morbidly obese people usually do. ick

I have been down that road with Southwest before. The flights I was forced to purchase and extra ticket were not even full. Plus they incorrectly refunded the extra ticket. so I was kind of over them. I flew them last month prepared..with reward tix. and they could not be nicer, but I am larger than Kevin Smith, and if arm rests are down..shouldn't be an issue.
