Kiefer Sutherland Halts '24' To Undergo Surgery

Production has been halted on the hit Fox show '24' as Kiefer Sutherland undergoes elective surgery to deal with a ruptured cyst near one of his kidneys, PEOPLE reports. "We are temporarily suspending production of '24' while our friend and colleague Kiefer Sutherland undergoes a medical procedure," the network says in a statement. "We hope to resume production shortly and do not anticipate any disruption in the broadcast of this season's episodes."

The medical problem is not considered serious, and the disruption to '24' is expected to be brief.

"While Kiefer Sutherland is frustrated to miss even one day of work, he and Fox decided together that it would be best to complete this minor elective procedure now as a precaution as opposed to six weeks from now when production wraps. He looks forward to returning to work (this) week," a rep for Sutherland said.

I agree. 24 is the greatest show on TV. I kept hearing all the hype and tried to watch it and was lost but I watched shows I missed and got caught up and now I never miss it. If I am not home I DVR it. GREAT SHOW!!!!!!!!!!

He will be back up and fighting crime tomorrow. He is tough. I have seen on tv how he can take the punishment and within 8 hours be back to normal.

I have enjoyed his acting, as I did his fathers. The fact that "24" is pro American, patriotic, and realistic flys in the face of most in hollywood. Being it is on fox network is a ditto. I wish him the best. The fact that I have seen hollywood liberals play the worst of society, and then go fanatic about the very things they will portray for money, seperates him from them, and I love it.

This is far more important for Kiefer to undergo his surgery than the production of 24. I hope it goes successful and that he gets well soon.
